I've had it with asians taking advantage of mark down programs trying to scam a little discount from the store. In our culture we don't do this and it is against company policy to keep marking down products just because you don't want to pay full price. I'm fed up with my coworker starting this because the customers over heard this then started taking advantage of it. I kept asking management about the policy and everyone pretty much said "I don't care." "We don't know." We don't want to deal with it." Alright if that's how it's to be I'll become a hard a$$ about the rules and stop these customers from getting discounted product. I work here and have to pay full price why the hell should you get a discount? My job is more important than you getting good product discounted. This has been going on a few weeks and needs to end. At first it was out of pity and now they're clearly taking advantage of us.
I've worked in bakery for over 30 years. Markdowns didn't use to be a problem in the past. In recent years it's become a big problem. People are constantly handing us stuff and asking us to mark it down. It's almost always some foreigner, many of which I believe are here illegally. I've always said that if I owned a bakery, I would never mark anything down. Sure I might throw away a lot of product at first, but I would eventually figure out how much to make so there's little to no waste.
