I have been at kroger for 45 days. In my 45 day period I have missed 4-5 days .My son was sick and I had to take care of him. My deli supervisor new what was going on. We hired a new deli backup and she has been telling the managers I have been calling off. I haven't though. She told me to call her back and I DID. She had the supervisor put on the phone and he told me I was no longer scheduled.
missing 4 or 5 days within the probation period is unheard of and unacceptable. It shows you were not serious about your job. Nothing going on at home sans a death in the family is ever an excuse to miss work. You need to get your priorities in order. Get help from other family members, mom, dad, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, in laws, whatever it takes but you don't miss that much work for a simple illness. Sorry no sympathy here, you made your bed now lay in it.

Wow frozen... I think someone's suffering from "corncob shoved sideways up *******" syndrome....
4-5 days missed isn't the best way to start off a new job, but I've seen people get away with a lot worse... I think your point could've been made just as well without sounding like a douche pickle..
yeah probably but this attitude of calling in every time something minor happens just erks me. It strains the rest of us who show up regularly and on time. sorry no sympathy here.

Gotta agree w/Frozen on this one. When I was hired (15 years ago) I was told to make sure I had backup plans for family emergencies and transportation, or I'd need a backup job. Frozen is right, preventable call outs make it hard on the rest of us.
You should have waited until you were in the union then you can call in all the time and there is nothing management can do about it. Heck I call in at least once a month and am late at least 12 times a month and I have been doing that since 1987. If they screw with you file a grievance. Management hates that. I filed 16 grievances one month on them so they pretty much leave me alone.
