Kroger couldn't pay me enough to be a clerk in the fuel center.  It's common not to get your breaks and lunch period and there isnt a bathroom in the place either.

depends on the store you are in. in ours, the morning clerk never gets a break because 'they don't ask for one' (according the morning FE crew)...however, the afternoon/evening crew always get a break when i work because it's unacceptable to require someone to work for 4-8 hours in a box without a break...UNACCEPTABLE!

the job itself doesn't seem so bad, you have to clean the pumps and all the display racks everyday (especially during pollen season). but you get to sit and read or do puzzles or whatever. it could get kinda boring, if you are the type person who needs constant interaction, but relaxing if you don't. (this is completely my own perspective, so you would do best listening to those who actually work in the fuel center)

i imagine the before and after work shift are kinda crazy with people fueling up on their way to work or on their way home after work. i usually do the break shifts at 3:00 and 8:00...and it's pretty quiet.

I AM THE OPENING CLERK IN FUEL ,I HARDLY GET MY BREAKS AND AFTER TALKING TO OTHERS ,I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE, ONE OF THE LADYS THAT WORKS NIGHTS COULD NOT  GET ANYBODY TO GIVE HER A BREAK AND HAD TO PEE IN A TRASH CAN ,I HAVE LOCKED THE DOOR A TAKEN A BREAK ,I CALLED THE MANAGERS AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO ONE TO SEND OUT ,SO I PUT OUT SIGN (BACK IN 15 MINUTES ) AND LOCK THE DOOR, IF YOU DO NOT GET YOUR BREAKS, FILE GREIVANCES ,THIS WILL GET THEIR ATTENTION, IF THEY CATCH YOU NOT TAKING BREAKS THEY WILL WRITE YOU UP AND TERMINATE YOU........

I would say the worst part about being a fuel clerk is the fact that there is no bathroom.  Like some of the others its one of those jobs where If you like being on your own, its great if you can keep youself entertained.  My problem is recently our shifts changed at our fuel station, so the two guys low on the totem pole me and another guy, we get 6-6.5 hour shifts, meaning we only get 1 break.  My only problem is the breaks are never consistant, so I may get a break 2 hours into my shift meaning i have to sit in there for 4 hours until I get off, meaning if i have to goto the bathroom i have to call in and ask for them to send someone out and listen to them say "ZOMG STOP DRINKING SO MUCH".  Other than that, its awesome ;).
