Different Standards for Lifers than new hirees?????

Ever notice the people thats been with Kroger for 20-30 years are held to lower labor production standards than todays hirees?

We got folks who's drawing $450-$500 weekly but work only 1/2 as hard. If a currently or newly hired employee fills in for them on vacation, that person is expected to do twice the work. And its hell to pay if they don't.

Sounds darn near like a form of "discrimination" to me. I thought all employees had to be treated equally.

I hear about these union contracts all the time. Is there one somewhere that says just do half the work as everyone else and collect twice the money if youve been here 10+ years. I want one if there is. Funny though, if a new union contract is drawup after the old one expires and it say FT's get a dollar raise, their at the front of the line to collect if they can.

Hate to say it but I see Kroger going the way GM did with the union.

I'm a pinko commie and I totally agree. I'm sick of it. I used to think the union was my answer to everything! But with hours being cut and what not, I'm pissed. I know give 110% everyday, but there are some who just drag their ass all damn day. There are a few who I admire because they go and go, and make it look easy.

The managers know X person doesn't do crap, but who gets all the hours? I think I might call the union tomorrow and complain about the full timers.

OK, so because they've been they're for 20 years means they don't have to work. I'll have to remember that. It must say it somewhere in they're union contract. " The longer you linger, the less you do and the more you get paid". Yea, thats the ticket.

Next time you have to do twice the work and pickup the load for less money, you remember that.
All, and I mean all employees should be treated the same and expected to produce the same in my book. If you can't hang, because you've been there 20 years, then McDonalds is hiring.

I know what you mean. I work in the office and there are three morning cashiers that have been there over 20 years that are still working at one when i come in. They are slow and if they get more than one person in their line or don't have a bagger they start bitching for someone to open another lane. they all think they know everything too. their scores are the lowest on the elms and they never tuck their shirts in but everyone else gets written up for that

the union is a joke!  They get a decent contract for the older employees and let the ones like me who have been there for less than five years get ****ed!

i am a lifer....been there 17 yrs.... but there are some of us that still work hard, and there are some that use the union to get out of doing anything...you can't fire them, because all they do is cry to the union....the union is designed to keep the nonworkers employed....cause management to lean more on the newbie's....it sucks, management can't even give raises to the ones who deserve it....sigh...
