stopped in a meijers today and spoke to an employee. their company has the same agreement with the union as krogers. mostly part-timers making minimum wages. if most grocery workers in this area are union why doesn't OUR union climb out of bed with the  grocery stores long enough to fight a battle for the working men and women? WHAT THE HECK DO WE STAND FOR?!

If your PT and in the Union, then its a waste of money each payday. THe Union does very little for PT. Unless your hired before 1997,1987 or been there 10 years or more your screwed.

Ever read the Union handbook? Everything is centered primarily around FT, which by the way is pretty much locked out nowadays. We just lost a FT. Do you think they'll hire another person FT when they can get 2 - PT's? Thats why Kroger agrees to FT benefits in the union contracts, why not?Theyre not hiring them anymore so whats to loose?

I've seen FT's leave and NO FT person hired to replace them only PT's. So the allocated number of FT at each store is BS. If one quits then one should be hired to take their place, pretty damn simple if you ask me.

thanks for the postvery informative. lets me know i'm not the only one who realizes what a royal screwing the company is doing to us with the sorry excuse of a union's blessing.

seems like every grocer in the city has the same habit of underpaying and only hiring part timers. maybe if the ufcw was voted out and a different less corrupt union was brought in to represent all the grocery workers we could get a fair wage. ha ha that was funny.
