When will the damn warehouse ever learn how to stack pallets? I unloaded a truck the other night and nearly everyone was leaning to one side and three were stacked so high that you couldn't get them off the truck without unstacking the top couple of layers. There was even a 1000 pound pallet of dog food on top of a pallet of water.
You call warehouse people and send e-mails and nothing ever gets done about it. Someone is really gonna get hurt because of there incompatent asses!
I remember a long, long time ago when a certain manager I know just had to pull a pallet off the truck to get at some specials. Needless to say, the paper towels he wanted were buried under a mound of sauce jars, and did not realize that the cellophane job was less than adequate from behind. He tore off that truck, maybe to appease a customer or two, but the problem is...the pallet hit a bump, and the mess went flying. Luckily for him, thank goodness, only one case of sauce got destroyed. He didn't want any help, because apparently it was his mistake, and didn't need anyone's help. I learned three things that day. We all have to take care of our own messes. Running too fast often will cause one to stumble. And anyone who stacks the heaviest jars on top of the lightest items needs to get his head examined! Just sayin'...
You get what you pay for.. I was told by a driver that most are convicts on work parole. Kroger gets $2-$3 from the government for hiring them. He also said they bust about 3 at the Peyton Warehouse for stealing mp3,dvd's, and other electronics. For every 1 they catch,3 get away. Kinda funny since they won't hire a ex-con in the stores but will in the warehouse.
I understand Kroger has been hit several times by INS. But they still figure after paying the fines and losing the illegals, that its well worth it in the long run. They still come out ahead in cost which translates to profits.
They'll just hire more illegals or ex-cons.SHHHHHHHHHEEEEEETTTTTT.WHat a Country..Usually the excuse is " no US born citizen wants to do the job " so they hire illegals or ex-cons through work programs(partially funded with tax $$).
If its so tough to find good US workers, wouldn't it behoove one to treat the workers better and with some respect other than dump on them and try to find ways to screw them and run them off constantly, afterall they're hard to find right? Just like Michael Moores movie, Capitalism: A Love Story.
Your store actually has a warehouse? Damn, you are some lucky folks. It'd sure be nice to have a dock where you can fit more than 7 pallets of product.
