On sunday I went in at 9 o'clock in the morning. I bag for a bit since we were pretty slow and everything. After a bit my customer service manager calls me over and talks to me about getting 15 buggies unloaded that day. Ok, so I go back to bagging, this is when it gets weird. I was bagging groceries already piling up at the belt, and the floor supervisor walks to me and says go unload her groceries, talking about the woman BEHIND the current customer. I replied with a no i'll do it once I finish this order, which was like a minute later. I walk up to try and help unload and the customer says "no i've got it thanks though" so i go to the bagging racks adding more bags. At that point the girl i would say, was filling up the charity bags with the canned foods etc. and told me to get on  another register to relieve the congestion since it was before the TItans football game at noon. Right before I started walking to my register, the girl (who's been there 2 or 3 years longer) told me and I quote Try not to be useless this time.

Now my question to fellow employees:

How can I be treated like that it's like I don't do my job any less than the others?

and to add injury to the insult all the employees that call out everyday because they're  hungover (underage at that) or generally not show up for work  get treated as bestfriends or "homies".

This pisses me off so much. I have worked at u-scan at nights and while standing behind the computer (busy store too cheap to get better equipment) the managers will tell me that I should be talking to customers or just look at me like im wrong, even though I walk around 90% of the time.
And ironically the people who are the "cool" ones get to stand there, doodle, and be generally unproductive are the SAME ones who get the power jobs i.e customer service/floor supervisor etc.

IKR!!ugh It is almost as if they are stuck in some highschool relm.It happens at alot of places. The people who have been there longer have some kind of weird, twisted clique they form.No matter who they are, they should have no right to speak to someone the way that person spoke to you!It is completely not professional, and just purely ridiculous!! I notice when I am staying busy others are standing there, talking about football scores, video games, and gloves they just bought.Seriously, work is work. They need to leave there personal lives for after work. The next time some douche speaks to you that way, don't let it get you,and if need be report it!!:)hope all goes well

Usually those "Lifers" as we refer to them have been there 30+ years. Kroger would actually love to get rid of them, they're NOT productive by todays standards. They've been locked in on a work environment that existed in the 70's & 80's and for them its just like working in those years due to the Union and their Full Timer status. Their flagged in the computer. I'd love to have the benefits that existed in the 70's and 80's today. They can't make them do alot. Nowadays if your hired within the last 10 years your screwed. The expectations and productivity levels are much, much higher today than 30 years ago.

We got a floorman and a fat man cashier working at night that don't do a damn thing hardly for 46 hours aweek. That translates to about 6 hrs over time each week or about $600+ every week to smoke and read the Enquire or magazines and sit in a bank chair and gossip with the female workers. Hell, fatman moves faster getting to the timeclock to punch in than he does all night, then when he's clocked in he goes into slow-motion. If those people left today, Kroger would have a PT in there and expect them to do all kinds of ****. When these people are on vacation they have PT people do their jobs and those filling have to do stocking and cleaning and all kinds of other stuff, and usually in half the time those 46 hr Lifers do it. Usually those Lifers think they own the store since they aren't forced to work like todays hire's. THey in their own mind think they're special. They have that " I paid my dues" attitiude. Which in reality they haven't because they've never had to work at todays level. I wish they'd all hurry up and retire but right now their just suckling on that big Kroger tit and waiting for that day.SUcking down stores budget hours from Front Ends and Grocery Depts.
