507 in Columbia TN. cut this week and the last few. Seems even when business is good they cut that overhead. SNOW= High Sales= PROFITS=More hours for labor. THe formula they use for budgeted store hours per sales if phucked up.
FUnny thing is the LIFER LUMPS are getting their 45-44-48 hours, but most labor is done by the workers down on the lower part of the food chain.Cut the workers and you cut the ability to get things done. It all comes back in the end.
Thats why when they cut the hours then shoot themselves in the foot and ask you to stay, I usually don't.Stick to the schedule. Its a lesson of teaching. Cut my hours then ask me to do a favor by staying for an hour.
Somebody has to pay for the Ralph's 1.2 BILLION goodwill impairment, and it's YOU! Look for ELMS to go from 100-102% effective to 105% effective. Yea, Customer FIRST !they say (and aren't we our most loyal customers?)
I was asked to stay 1 hour one night since someone had called out, they work as much as a lifer does but have only been there about 2 months. When my assistant manager, she is new to manager part considering she know's less than the baggers do about the store, heard about me staying she ran and got me a coke rofl.
It's funny how the high schoolers get all the good jobs, customer service floor sup etc. and I get stuck being their lacky when they put me (top 5 in checking when im actually checking) as a bagger.
I want to be floor sup, or even customer service But my store insists on putting the gay guy and the high school girls back there.
p.s one of the girls has had about 6 cartons! of cigs stolen from her. How? well she would give them to customers who said they were at uscan. HAH and she still works there.
It's also funny how my stores 3 strikes policy is 3 strikes IN A ROW. so the dumbasses who get away with everything, no call no show my stores doesn't bother with writing them up.
my store has been cutting hours, at least in my dept, for months. if i want my hours i just end up staying longer or just not taking lunch breaks. the not taking lunch breaks usually happens anyway because of a great amount of work load getting dumped on me.
question..it sounds like you work at norwood kroger...thats how they run there store, and i know theres a few high school girls that are floor supervisers
My contract give me a guaranteed forty hours a week. Letter of understanding F-1.
Now can not say for sure on this one but it is only something I was told many years ago. When Dallas was its own division and then mergers with Houston to create the SWKMA. I was stared that the Dallas are operated with too many full timers and not enough part timers. The Markets was about a 95 to 5 mix. The goal ( again as i was told) was best practices had a 60 to 40 ratio of full time to part time. The meat departments are still at a very high rate of full time to part time but the rest of the store ( where I work ) is about 60-40 or 50-50 mix. Again that is just something that was stated to me years ago. The reasoning was that you do not have the flexibility to schedule properly if you do not have enough part timers.
