But now that northlake is closing up all h*** is breaking lose , there 4 stores in our zone without produce manager , the ones left has to work 6 days to 7 days to make shure the dept dont fall apart if  , n yes if you are talking on the phone  while you are at home it  is still working your just not getting paid for it .  then not being able to take breaks is another issue . they are looking for Publix service and cleans at wal-mart pay . so what gives ?

I have about 17 more days until I have 20 years in. I have 15 more years to go until my time served is up and I get released to the general public.

Grumpy1- Congrats on lasting 20 years. I,m sure you already know about becoming eligible for another week of vacation! When reading the obituaries, I've noticed that a lot of Kroger retirees don't make it past their early 70s.Probably because of being worked to hard.

Its like this. Every manager I worked with wants one thing. The job done and done right. Most could care less how you do it as long as it is done. I get my work done and not afraid to go behind a door and question or argue my point with management. I will even go to the point of taking some fault to protect my workers.
I am a shop steward and active in the union and not afraid to contact them and have someone there when I need to. I also keep an open mind ti the fact that it is their company and if they want it done one way then so be it. They pay the bills and if they want to change things then so be it as long as it does not violate my union contract. But then it could be worse. Could be un-employed, no pension, no benefits that I can afford or even worse, I could be working for Wal-Mart.

Patience Grumpy1, you may be very well working for Walmart soon or at least a company trying to run theirs like them. We all seem to be working for a Walmart or at least their methods slowly but surely.

I just seen a 7 minute video on how they want everyone to stock now. Right off the pallets without spotting and everyone has a jack. Walmart does their softline that way,but not their grocery. Seems like everytime I turn around Kroger is trying to replicate them. Never the other way around.

I've done groceries for 20+years for several different retailers. And a few other professions inbetween and still have more experience than some of the management today. And never seen one do it the way Kroger wants you to do it. The more complicated the plumbing, the easier it is to stop it up.
