With issues in every store and safety concerns, What stands out as a serious safety issue for either customers or employees and in your area of the store? I am in an older store ( 488 swkma McKinney Texas) and the issues we have in the meat department are several. Now the store director and the co`s all placed these items on the net for maintenance but never got them done yet.

1 Meat slicer that will run with all guards off of it
2 Meat tenderized that will not stop when the top is off or open.
3 No water proof covers for the meat saws. ( connections are open for water or moister and have had to be replaced several times from rust and corrosion.
4 wrapper, scales computer and other electrical items connected under the scales with a surge protector. six items plugged into one plug.
5 several electrical outlets with out water proof covers and a grinder that has electrical tape sealing the end of it where it was on a temporary fix for the last 8 months.

What is in need of repairs in your area.

Actually, Our division is pretty good about getting the safety issues taken care of rather quickly. The worst of out problems are mold behind the walls in the meat room. It seems no matter how much they replace the walls, the mold keeps crawling back in

Well we expanded our store but they didn't expand receiving so we have no room in the back for peyton, grocery, supply etc. trucks and salvage. Our eyewash station emergency exits are 75% blocked with bales pallet stacks carts etc.
The bakery and deli clerks are mostly on light duty because of "injuries" that get them out of any hard work and give them more time to smoke.
And if any of them follow safety guidelines then it'd be a miracle.
OSHA would fine our butts so bad it's not funny.

Other problem , I see, is when you go into most any store, the tops of all the areas ( coolers, freezer, meat, produce department ect...........) is a place to store junk. Seems that 10 years or more ago that the company decided that nothing was to ever be stores above them for safety sake. There has been a few times, since then, that stores have had to clean them off. It might seem like a great place to store things but people still get hurt when they go up above them to retrieve things. Company can always come back and say that they have ordered or have a policy that says nothing is to be kept there but it still is going on. Especially in smaller and older stores.
