2 months ago a much older co-worker put his hands on me back in the meat cooler. He came up from behind me, while i was bent over, and grabs me by my hips and squeezed. I scream....he laughs! "Whys your face so red"? I tell management. Store manager pulls this guy into office (two weeks later) and gives him a sexual harassment letter to sign and put in his file, and we all just need to learn to get along. Nothing else done. Guy even admitted to doing this and NOTHING was done.
4 weeks pass...same guy goes to hand me off a 10lb tube ground beef (2ft long and 6" dia) in a vertical position...as I took the tube he started moving it up and down, as if to immulate I am masturbating the tube....Told management....the guy denys it this time...my word against his...
End result...because he has been there longer then me Kroger is offering me to be transfered to another dept or store, but he gets to remain....what kind fo world do we live in...where the problem itself is not dealt with???????? This is unreal to me!!!!!!!
First thing is to contact your local union and your KMA human Reasoners department. See what they will do first but also Let them Know that You plan to file a Sexual harassment complaint and a hostile working environment complaint with the EEOC. Give your Local Union 1 day to get back with you and let them know you are following up with the international office in Washington. Give HR one day ( they reply back very quickly when contacting them personally) to get back to you and let them know that you are serious and plan to contact Cincinnati and an attorney if this is not resolved immediately. Tell them ( union and HR ) that you want it ended now and made whole.
Been in the meat department for 20 years with Kroger and a shop steward for about 15 years. One thing there is no tolerance for is anyone placing a hand on any employee that does not want it. Verbal Harassment comes once you ( and only once) tell someone that the language in not wanted nor do you want to hear it.
I have a call into the union...he will probably call me back tomorrow....I was just approached Saturday with this new information by the store manager....who claims its HR's and division mgr best resolve to move me???!!!!!
I have been with Kroger a year, and I bust my butt, my dept mgr can see that and knows...I dont want to transfer.....have asst meat mgr position opening in January and I want it so bad...I do need to learn to cut though better...wish I could get more training on the block....I know most all the cuts, just need to perfect them...and learn to order....
I couldn't believe that when I told the store mgr that I really didn't want to transfer she semi-rolled her eyes at me and gave me this look, like are you serious...your not going to just leave....she asked me to let her know what I wanted to do, cause Kroger will gladly move me if I dont wanna work with this man....
I have so much more to learn and gain by staying....the dept mgr I have is one of the best in the area....I hope it all works out...scared that by going to union this is going to cost my opportunity to promote...but I know its the right thing to do....

I kid you not that management told me we all just need to get along and do what is for the better of the business and the customers....store mgr was more concerned with this man putting fraudulent info on one of our new cutting "tools" that just started a couple weeks ago...(having to count how many packages are being cut and wrapped - he put 44 the other morning for 1st cut and barely cut 15 - and i told her about it) "Oh you can get terminated for that"
Someone also read on my facebook I wrote about having to work with a pervert.....and I was pulled into the office for that as well and told not to write on my facebook about people at work and "posting things like that are slander"
I just hope and pray that good comes from this all...I am there to do a job and work hard I always do and will...would like to promote and learn more....hope this whole thing wont hinder that....
Tell your store director and the HR staff that intent to file the grievance against the store, employee, management and the company and that you soul not be forced to move. The problem is that they want to keep this person and by sending you off it creates a negative work environment for others and gives you a negative reputation. Part of being made whole is having things revert to where you and your working conditions are back to where it was before any complaint was filed. That would have top be the problem moved and not you unless you want to be moved and any hardships you may occur from a new staff, commuting to work and any lost shop seniority.
You should not have to work with this man and let your union rep and EEOC ( if the union and HR does not come thru quickly) what the company policy is and the violations that the company is taking by moving you and not solving the problem. If moved then Have your rep file the grievance that day and start the process of having you moved back and him terminated or moved.

I would refrain from the Face book comments for the moment but if you did not mention his name, Kroger by name or anything else that can be considered harrasment then do not worry about it.
Now let the cutter mess with the cutting tool if her chooses to. What it will do is come back to haunt them as far as store certification goes and that will come back on the Market manager and the Store Management. Should you want to PM me and I let me know what KMA you are in and what LOcal you are also in, I am going to bwe out of touch for a week but want to keep track of what Kroger does in this case. And remember that it is not Kroger but the individual and the storee staf that is letting this go on. HR is usually pretty sharp about the policies and following them. And remember that part of being made Whole meens the Management staf has to conform to the policies of harassment also or they can be moved or terminated.

Had seen a member in our local, that had 45 years with Kroger. He slammed a kid against a wall and used some racial comments. Store manager terminated him but since he has a good work record and 45 years of sevice the union got his job back for him and the district manager had him demoted from his position and sent to another store . Just do not give up because of one ass hole. This company needs good kids or people to train to be Meat cutters. I got two. One is a 24 year old girl that has been with me for 4 years and the other is a 25 year old kid that has been wuith me for about 2 years.

My girl that cuts had to learn on the fly. When I got her it was Just me and her and a closing clerk that could not speak english. She is my Back-up and can do anything I can do but just not as fast. MY other kid learned in the fly too when it was just me him and her. I got in a lot of trouble earlier ( time wise) for the training but it paid off now. And trust me if I get a little out of hand they will both be quick to put me back in line.
