Contact numbers to think about and discuss.

Now I just chose random numbers to talk about and discuss place your numbers where you want to figue out the cost to the company.

2064
4128
6192
here are some numbers to think about.

2064
4128
6192
These are some of the Numbers that they ( Kroger ) uses to base pay rates on. Lets say they offer you a one time $500 bonus for the first year. That only cost them about 25 cents per hour with no overtime figure in. Now lets say they offer you a onetime deal of a $1200 over a three year contract then you average out about 19 cents per hour and that is not counting overtime.
Lets say you have 1000 members in the market.and it come to this. lets say that there are 300 top paid people such as market managers, cutters , assistants and so on. give them a $1.50 over three years lets say it is .50 each year. The cost of that to kroger is 50x6192 + .50 x 4128 + .50 x 2064 and that would be 3096 + 2064 + 1034 for a total of 9192 dollars over the thee years. Now lets say that they go .25 the fist year and .40 the second year and that big .85 the last year. The total is $1548 + $1651.2 + $1754.4 what equals a total of $4953.6 per employee. The company saves $4238.4. Now take those Numbers times the 300 employees and that is one figure.

Now they come back and decide the clerks are worth maybe $1 per hour and they are giving them a $1000 signing bonus ( about 50 cents per hour) for the first year and .20 cents the second year and .30 cents the final year. So the final cost of  one clerk would be .2 times 4125 ( 825.6) + .3 times 2054 ( 619.2) $1000 that equals $2444.8 per employee that is a clerk full time.

Now remember all you here is the contact gives you up to $1.5 a year over three years with clerks getting $1000 bonus.

If I am to get a bonus without any raise over the contract then give me the $1.50 times 6192 hours plus 5% because of overtime worked each year and I may ( 9288 + 464.4= 9752.4) consider it.
Give a clerk a bonus of $6501.6 to the topped out clerks and a prorated for those that top ount each year and I would consider asking them to except it.

That is why when in contract talks , they move very slow in the economical parts. It takes greater minds that you or I to figure out the true costs and separate the bull **** from the reality.

So where do you work that you get a signing bonus??  I was topped out at 3 years and havent had a raise in I dont know how long...who gets bonuses?? Our last contract negotiations lost us our free health care and those who get hired in after 2003 dont make more than $10.50 an hour, even at full time. And I am told we make good money here, I checked out another Kroger while I was on vacation and they make ALOT less than I do and their benifits are less too. I don't see how Kroger can say they are great employers when they screw their workers every chance they get.

$10.50??? wow that's low.  i was hired after that date and I'm nearing that pay rate very soon, and should be topped out at $12.30 very soon.
