as you know this company will hire just about anyone, including those with less than enough ability to do even the simplist of jobs. Well we have several, but recently one made me chuckle a bit. He's a nice guy, but I guess not the best worker because he pissed off one of my co-workers pretty bad here recently. Not sure what this guy did, but my friend came up cursing and yelling about whatever this other guy had done..I had a good laugh and said 'it'll be alright, he'll be our next store manager' [implying they'll take anyone into management regardless of qualifications, skill level, or brain capacity]. everyone had a good laugh about it; probably because they knew it was true!
Management, in the Grocery Industry, equates to that of a fry cook in a McDonalds. They are too stupid to get a real job, so they get a management position at a place (Kroger) where THE PRODUCT SELLS ITSELF! People need to eat. I am not impressed by management on ANY level. At the end of the day, all they have to do is show up at work and turn the lights on. It's not like they have to talk customers into buying anything! Just schedule staff, run a few meetings and sign some paperwork. Really impressive!
So yes, the dumber you are (and the more willing you are to kiss a$$) the more likely you are to become management. Meanwhile, those of us who know how to do the work right and aren't willing to suck-up have to work for these idiots.
Hrm, funny stories. We had a couple baggers that used to sit in the bathroom on the stall for about an hour at a time to get away from work. Why they thought it was better to sit and smell **** for an hour was better than going out to get carts.. I'll never know.
We had a cashier who told a 15 yr old girl on WIC that she was too young to have a baby. Her mother came back to the store ready to kick the cashiers arse, cause the girl had been raped. (cashier was fired, had her ass beaten anyway, and now collects WIC and food stamps herself)
