We can talk about the bad things here about Kroger but we do have to be fair and show some class unlike the managment at Kroger, if they learn that then thats the kind of people i want to lead me. It is nice to know what its like to work at another store brefly however a few people like the change and want to go to that store right away, you have to look real close on how things are done like organisation skills. It is nice to know that alot of stores you find out are in worse conditions then yours along with the people your working with. Me I like the Department Head I work for she has made me a better clerk then I was in the passed and I tell her about , evenr though she treats me like her bitch I dont mind cause it pushes me harder to be better! Now to me there are 2 differant kind of Store Managers one is the one who came out of college and you can still smell the bong resen and beer on them, and they think they know everything better then you<----- I like these douche bags but some change after a little while. The ones I have the most respect for and for the most part are very good leaders are the ones who started in the company at the bottom and worked there way to the point they are at. The Staore Managers and department head I work for I wouldnt want to work for someone else other then them right now, if for one day they will bless me with a promotion (dont ever think it will happen) then the people who work for me will know they are being lead buy a good leader.
I have had good bosses at kroger. my last deli manager, gene, was awsome. she fought hard to keep people off our backs, and let us do our jobs. a few co-managers i had were cool. most, sadly, got chewed up by the kroger machiene. store manager, i have one that was good. now, he was a total *******, with no people skills. BUT, he was honest, fair, and tolerated no favortism or BS. when he left, the store went to pot, and never recovered.
Over 20 plus years I have had 17 store managers, been in about 8 different stores, had about 12 zone or district changes, about 8 different market managers ( before i got one of my own) and more co managers that I can keep track of. Had some good managers and only had two that was not worth a **** and they did not last long. Seen two different times where Kroger changes things up and cut and got rid of a number of co managers KWA wide. Not all of the management was great but can say that if they do not get the results and numbers that their district and KMA management wants, they will not be around long.
But can say this much. Seen a hell of a lot more tolerance and willingness to work from management that most of the employees. The best managers I have had are those that have the people skills and great communication to go with that.
our best managers were the ones who were out on the floor doing things and interacting with the people. The worst one's are the one's who sit upstairs all day, you don't even know they're there unless bigwigs are coming then they're running around like crazy. Very unprepared.
You can come here with a good attitude but it's hard when you've had a bad day and this is the only place where you can post about it and actually have people who will listen (because we've all been there). Not all managers are good listeners and it's hard to find one's with whom you can confide and feel comfortable without fear of being repramanded for sharing your thoughts. the forum is the perfect place for doing just that
Your right...DAMN IT your right ! Hold on, let me think...oh yes, years ago we concentrated on selling groceries! Hard to believe we did it without Key Retailing, ELMS, crew sheets,CAO,whats due, confernece calls, bottom 20 bull (censored), checklists, surveys, reporting, and just focused on selling ! and we sold our behinds off let me tell you! Hard to believe today the latter is more important than the "sell"...
