Just curious here, but have any of you ever had any personal problems with a union steward (or BOTH union stewards)? How have you gone about solving those problems, IF they can be solved? What if the steward IS the problem and does not have your back, or both stewards are the problem? What if you have to settle for the "lesser of two evils", and find you just CAN'T do it? What if their lack of knowledge is showing? What if you need them to be FOR you, but they're AGAINST you from the start? Has anyone had to go "above and beyond" in dealing with a "bad" steward? What if your steward is biased against you, biased towards the company, untrustworthy, volatile, predatory (especially towards the vulnerable), incompetent, or just plain doesn't care? What if there is any racism, sexism, or any other "isms" involved? And, of course, those "isms" are the "elephant in the room" that nobody wants to admit...What if you're someone who gets "ganged up on" by management AND the stewards (or feels like it)? What about the "smiling faces sometimes who don't tell the truth" who will stab you inb the back when you're not looking?
I'm just asking generally WHAT DO YOU DO IN THOSE SITUATIONS, LEGALLY OR OTHERWISE?
Has anyone had to deal with any situations like this, or know someone who did?
unfortunatlly, it does happen. been there myself. all you can really do, is contact the union directly. too often, management wil make sure to get cozy with the shop stewarts, to cover their rears, and then it's like squeezing blood from a stone, to get them to stand with you. but contact your union rep, and tell them , is really all you can do.
Our union rep seems to have a cozy relationship with the store manager. Where do you go from there? what if the rep seems to think that kroger has your best interests at heart and won't pursue anything too forcefully?
