union won't return my calls
Permalink

I'm really starting to get ticked here. for two weeks, i have daily left messages, and still, i can't get a call back. the lack of comminication, during my greivence has left me real doubtful the union was ever interested in my case at all.
If they don't think my case is winable, why diddn't they just say so, from the get go, instead of draging me though 5 months of waiting, one sided meetings, and now , they just ignore me ?

Your problem is, you seem seem to think that The Union has YOUR best interest in mind.

I think one of our former shop stewards put it best about our union representative:

"Pay your dues, leave me alone, and we won't have any problems".

The more I think about it, the only thing a union really helps you with is protecting senior level employees (which I am not) in the event of a store closing.  In a non-union environment, everybody would lose their jobs, but those who have been loyal could relocate and depending on years of service even keep the same job.

The fact that our union refuses to stand up to Key Refailing which is considered piecerate and not even in our contract speaks volumes.

barada, I do hope you win and get your job back.  It can be an uphill battle, but don't give up.

oh, i know they don't have my personal interts in mind, i'm just a number.BUT, i'm a long time employee,12 years, with a nearly flawless record, and well liked by costomers, and coworkers. they have to put forth some effort, or they look bad, espicially since i refuse to back down, or give in. i'll fight untill theres no fights left.
ironic, that this is the third time, i have been here, where i posted about their lack of communication, and third time, they responded within a day. so, obviously, someone reads stuff here.
granted, what i got was a vioce mail, saying 'he would know something deffinate by teusday"
not sure what that means, but it has to be, either kroger is breaking down completly, or going to fight all they way, if there will be a solid desicion then.

The Union representing Kroger employees is in it for 1 thing, the money(dues).
THe Union is pretty much $hit with really no interest in the employees, hence the different contracts throughout regions where some are better than others. I wouldn't be surprised if Kroger isn't already owning it or paying off insiders running it.

Don't waste your money, even if your not enrolled to pay $28+ amonth, you still get the same benefits as a union employee, they just won't represent you in a grievence, but then do they really represent the employee well?
