carts!

i've tried to be patient but enough is enough. I'm tired of spending hours in the snow, rain, and cold every day pushing carts. We have to go into 30 degree weather for 30 minutes when they tell us to. The problem with this is alot of days they send me outside 5 or 6 times a day. That's 3 hours outside. Today i had to do carts 20 minutes after i had just come in from doing carts, which i had to do right after i clocked in. I did carts two more times that day. The last time me and the rest of the baggers spent 45 minutes clearing the lot after the managers yelled at us asking us if we know what clear is. Is it like that at every krogers? I find it ridiculous that i have to spend half my shift pushing carts in freezing cold weather even though one of the managers told me i wouldn't have to do carts that much.

Sadly, yes that's everywhere. Our store is a bit better than most. Drug gm people or grocery people, even the manager and co manager have gone out to help get carts when we had a super rush and were low.

But not every store is created equal. At night, the customer service woman tends to pick on one bagger alll the time. Her friends spend their time up there talking to her and she makes the quiet emo bagger go get the carts every time.

Sometimes you have to just speak up if your being treated unfairly. Talk to your steward to see if this is normal for your store, and you just have to suck it up or if there is a bit of unfairness going on.

Sorry it's not a very good answer

i don't mean to sound rude, but it could be worse. my brother worked carts at meijer.. they spend their ENTIRE 8 HOURS SHIFT on carts in the rain/snow/15 degree weather. yeah they have a little machine to help push some carts, but he said that it's not a whole lot of help when it's really busy. just work hard at the **** job and you'll get noticed and promoted. i got promoted from bagger within 4 months. i wasnt spectacular; all i did was my job and not complain about it, which is really all you have to do. good luck

i swear i always clear the lot at 9-10 oclock. usually i get 99% of the carts in by the time i leave. but we have this one bitch manager who is cool as a cashier but when she puts on that black vests she gets drunk on her power over 5 or so employees.(retarded right). i think they should get rid of her. but she is a cart nazi. just thank god you dont know her.

Honestly? I envy you. I work out in west Indiana, and they have all of two baggers on a shift, and we have to spend an hour to an hour and a half. For the past week, I've been the late bagger.

To be entirely honest, I think I can complain about it, because that's not what I got hired on for. I was night stock, making $230 a week. But because of union related stuff, someone else decided they wanted more hours, and MINE were the hours cut. So I got bounced from department to department, until I finally settled at Front End. I had originally 37-40 hour shifts, four days a week, and now I have three to four days, four to seven hour shifts. Let's just say: front end isn't the place for hours.

we all have the same situation, at least as far as i can tell. i'm old (54) with heart problems, a stroke and i still have to push carts! to add to it, our lot is uphill to the store! see, things suck everywhere, but at least we're working! hang in there, retirement is near!

Don't complain. I live in Georgia. We have a lot list and are written down for at least a hour a day. Do you know how hot it gets in Georgia. It is winter season and it is almost 70 degrees outside. imagine how it gets in the summer. i would love doing lot in the cold. Atleast you can cover up. dont complain, atleast you have a job

I live in Georgia and it's does get pretty cold here. If I work for 4-5 hours, I'm outside for over half of it. It really stinks.

I live in Arizona, where it was 96 degrees yesterday. It will be 92 degrees on Halloween.  I do remember trick or treating with my winter coat on. (I'm originally from NY.)

When I was a courtesy, I had 7 hours of carts back to back. But a actually I had to do half an hour of another owrson's carts because they didn't walk the whole lot. So Technicaly I had 7 and a half hours. I wanted to complain about fairness but the courtesy who didn't finish his hours is 'buddy buddy' with management
