2 GIGANTIC WASTES OF TIME

Those scan guns that the DSD receivers use are horrible.  It takes 29 keystrokes to sign th thing on.  On average I have to do this 15 times daily.  DO THE MATH.   If i lay the gun down to do something, maybe bathroom, break, help a custmer,  say maybe 5 minutes,  the gun has to be signed on again.  You also must wait for the gun to reengage, another 1 minute or longer.  You guys are all about not wasting time, those guns don't need to shut down 15 times a day.  They were programmed to do that, so program them to sign on and stay on.   I turn mine off when I go home and lock it up.  I'm a grown up, you know, responsible.   Your gonna have all your receivers all out with surg. for carpal tunnel.  Its a massive waste of my time.  Also get tags that the guns will scan or get guns that will scan the tags,  how bout it.
Hint - some of all this  Key Retailing is ok but some of it is STUPID, and a waste of my time and waste of vendors time and some  is just plain redundent.           I've worked for Kroger for many years and have seen lots of changes, some good, some not , but I really love my job and would like to see come common sense applied by people who actually do the job, not somebody in Cincinatti that thinks up this stuff but doesn't have to work with it.

JUST VENTING.  THANKS FOR LISTENING AND HOPEFULLY GIVING IT SOME CONSIDERATION.

I agree with the sign scan issue, they are hard to scan sometimes. but honestly. They log you off for a reason. I really really don't think your going to get carpal tunnel for signing on and off. Stop being lazy.

I'm in the deli department and I sign on and off at least 10 times a day as well. shelf review, we use the gun to scan the prices when we fill the floor, markdowns, price changes, price checks, customers who want a price on something either in our dept or not.

Your lucky that you get to log yours off and lock it up. I have to share mine with floral. Try using a gun that the bitch from floral has gotten water on for 3 hours.

That sounded really mean, but sorry, side note, they log off because of security. If you are logged on and someone marks down 200 items to .10. Guess who gets fired?

as a fellow DSD receiver I can say that although I agree with you about this,  just be glad that your chaintrak password doesn't expire like your regular login will expire every 45 days or so.

I've posted many times about 'wasted time' when dealing with the guns.  if you think about how long you have to wait....just on slow guns...in an average day, it's laughable!  Our batteries are junk and you have to wait while the gun beeps (5 times!) to tell you "low battery" (even though it was just taken off the charger) this slows you down while trying to scan things.  I don't even want to discuss how long you have to wait if your gun reboots,  might as well go find someone elses gun because it takes FOREVER!  then, as you mentioned, whenever you have to login again and again it takes more time.
