I have been a kroger employee for several years. There are a few people under me on the seniority list, and all of us are full time. I was the last to acquired full time status in the last few months after the other two people in our department already had their status of full time for over a year. I recently was moved down to the bottom of the list in seniority for our department. The store is stating I lost all my seniority when the others became full time while I remained part time, both of which were hired after I was already employed by Krogers for several years. I have almost 4 years over each of them. I have been reviewing the union book and to me it looks like the date of hire per all full timers is what seniority is based on. Is this correct or is the store's explaination correct?
don't rely too much on senority thou. i had senority over every single person in my store, yet never got the pick of days off, nor could i get moved to another dept. senority means only as much as the union lets it matter.
You status is based solely on your hire date. When you go from part-time to full-time your lengthof service goes with it. It does not start when you reach full-time status. it is now and aalways has been basedon your hire date only.
