They give our flower girl apparently way too much time. She literally sits on a stool and talks to her husband for at least an hour or two a day. Then she spends an hour trying to get someone to throw her trash away because she's female and that's not something she should have to do. Apparently a vagina and a trash can too close together create an atomic reaction. Go figure, who knew?
If she is really sitting on a stool, shame on her. I have never seen a stool in the floral dept. And she should definately take out her own trash. That being said, floral is more work than people think. If your floral clerk should be replaced, someone should do it.
Ehh with this forum salty language is the call of the day. Wait till they start posting the midget porn again. Or even better the mutilated bodies posts.
On a side note, floral girl, who the store calls "princess" was told she had 60 hours this week for her schedule. She is working 36 and she scheduled 4 people 8 hours a day for 3 days (thurs, fri, sat) which is 96 hours plus her 36 =132
When they told her she was only allowed 60 for the week, she threw a fit and couldn't understand why no one could help her. She had too much work to do to get her dept ready.
FYI the whole produce dept uses 196 hours a week, on average.
So now she's trying to call anyone from the union to District manager to coordinators to back her up that she needs 132 hours a week before valentines day for a store that is budgeted 15,500 for the week before and week of valentines.
I might be bitter, but this isn't bitter it's about no one being held accountable for their work or lack of work. But everyone thinking they can just complain and get their way.

For the last 3 years they have asked me to work in floral for the "Big Valentines Rush". I have never witnessed any such rush. But I say yes and spend my time making 1, 2 and 3 rose vases that no one buys and ringing people up (10-12) while the more experienced floral employees make big arragements that no one buys. Oh well....at I get 8 hrs that day LOL

They throw people in floral every year to make arrangements, etc that honestly do not ever sell.. Why when you can go to flowers.com and get better for cheaper? The floral employees in our store don't ring people up, they have to go to the "valentines express" which is just a express lane with hearts taped to it.
I realize I'm probably not the one to ask, considering my opinino of our floral girl. However floral does about 80 bucks a day in our store on a normal day. On a good one 150 a day. ehh Kroger has a reason I guess.
Visit a Kroger store with a real floral department. I have worked in a small volume store, where I did about $12,000 for Valentine"s day. I am now in a bigger store, where I do about $40,000 in sales for the holiday. To have a successful floral department, it must be managed, and it must have staff that can actually make arrangements that sell. My customers say that we are the best place in town to buy flowers. Oh, and my normal day's sales are at least $400, $1,000 on a Friday or Saturday.
ugggg! Both Gregs were in m store today and of course things are not like they would like them to look going into V-day but maybe some extra hrs might help. They ask what would help and I told them hrs and you thought i asked for the moon.
