Just some questions surrounding the whole lean accounting b.s. they use at kroger.
My store is horrible with cash, i.e, cash shortages involving tills ansd what not. We are dead last in the district in cash shortages. Averaging about 500 dollars short each week due to people stealing money from their tills.
The floor supervisors dont audit the tills enough at night/ during the day, and with us being such a high volume store (over 1.1 million/week) and cashiers moving in and out of multiple tills each day is common which makes the need to audit that much greater, especially with this 1+1 bull**** they just implemented.
I was just wondering if there are anyone else out there with stores that had huge shortages or just problems with people stealing from tills in general and have fixed the problems, any tips or tricks will help.
i work in a small store in va. We have a loss prevention person in there one day a week to scan over any changes or shortages and to watch the cameras if it's more than 2.00. (yes 2.00)
I'm not sure why your store is just going business as usual with over 500.00 missing each week. We very rarely have more than 5 to 10 a week difference.
However I'm not on the front end, so I don't know all of the details at all times. But you still hear things and I talk to the front end manager sometimes about changes.
Watch the cameras? I understand it might suck if your store uses tapes, but our DVR system helps our management with theft issues.
You can also communicate with your fe team that need to do more audits, keep the same checkers on registers. If your management team isn't worried about the theft, call our ethics hotline.
It's your paycheck walking out that door. ykwim? that loss is your potential income. It's less money kroger has to pay you.
The cash ans check tender mistakes are easy to fix though. It's called tender correction. And if you have people giving back change for 100 instead of 10 then they need to be bagging.

yea it is time to watch the cameras; question some cashiers and make an arrest right in front of all the other cashiers. nothing stops till theft better than parading a thief right past all the other cashiers in handcuffs during the busy part of the day with a couple cops on either side of him/her. has to be done....
