I'm in Delta Div. and was informed by a very reliable source of a long term employee that had the amount of his pension greatly reduced for not being a union member!It was explained to him that the union makes pension deposits along with Kroger contributions.If this is true,it should be disclosed in writing to everyone at the time of deciding to accept or discontinue representation.A little known but true fact is that if you quit the union and rejoin at a later date,all dues from the day membership was relinquished will be collected.In my case that would be close to $4,000.I was a member for 2 and 1/2 years but not for the last 9 and am very concerned about this.Does anyone know of similar situations and what course of action was taken?I,ll try to find out additional facts and post later.

to the absolute best of my knowledge, the union does not contribute to pension

All the rules are stated in your contract. They also send you yearly rules and numbers on your pension fund. Ask your union rep for a contract, even if you aren't a member you are still covered.
