Gang Bangers in Kroger Late at Night
Permalink

Any body here had to deal with this, associates or customers? As I posted earlier, I do most of my shopping late at night in my neighborhood Kroger. Throughout the winter I've encountered no probs....earlier this morning, however, I got shadowed by three inner city thugs. It was just after I paid for my groceries at the auto lane and had headed out the door.

"Hey dude, you don't NEEEED that extra twenty I saw you put in yo wallet." He was tall but skinny, the antoganist: clearly the leader. His posse quickly flanked him. They were all nods and grins and "yeea, too much money is bad fo the soul..."what ever.

Yeah, I was scared. SHEEITLESS. It was 02:14, I knew I'd put myself in that peril and had no one else to blame.....but dammit, I was just buying my groceries. I have fight training and guns at home, but I wasn't home and I don't care how good you are in a Dojo, you're gonna piss buttermilk when confronted with the REAL THING. Life ain't a youtube karate video. So, I used what comes to me best: comedy!

"Yea man you're right---I don't need this twenty...but my gay lover DOES. He's infected with stage four AIDS--he gave it to me too--and he's waiting on every penny from me he can get to--"

"FK YOU TALKIN, cracka?" The 'leader' again. His posse was snickering,,,but already backing away.

"I'm just saying that Desmond---my lover--needs a transfusion and, that, I'm needing sooo much AZT that my blood is SPILLING WITH H.I.V."

Still very much scared, I read their faces as the leader assessed the situation. Micro seconds later, he shoved my left shoulder, said "PFFT, FK you BIOTCH", and he---and his posse---sauntered away. I went home, very glad to be alive.

TRUE STORY

(under no circumstances does the author wish to demean homosexuals, H.I.V. infected persons, A.I.D.S inflicted persons/patients or any variation/derivative there of. ...I just used the situation to my advantage).

One word: MACE!

I also do my shopping (at my store) late nights/early mornings. As a matter of fact, I just went shopping this morning and got home at 3:15 am. But my husband won't let me go any where regardless if it's day or night without my mace. I have a question though; doesn't Kroger have security? Even with mace, I still have our security guard walk me to my car and I have him watch the parking lot while I load my stuff up. Yeah, I know you're a guy but up against three thugs it doesn't mean crapola :)

Wait... people carry paper money around? That's crazy!

Someone needs a bank account and a debit card.

Would work against 1 person by surprise but not a whole group. You are basically screwed if this happens to you. Thankfully, my store is mostly safe though nothing is guaranteed.

I cash my check at Kroger every week. My daughter and grandson live with us. The money I make is mine and my grandson's play money. We do have a bank account and bank cards but no one is going to dictate to me weather I should carry cash or not. No one is going to intimidate me into how I live. Besides, haven't you heard of those trash ass thugs holding people at gunpoint at ATM's? It happens every day, every where.

To the ANON butt wipe who made the comment, "I bet they were black." Shut the hell up please. You're disgusting.

I never go to an ATM. I carry no more than $5 on me at any given time. All my transactions are handled either by card or online.

Two words: direct deposit.

It really doesn't matter if you carry a thousand dollars in cash, an ATM card, have direct deposit or even telepathic finance transfer powers....If somebody wants to jack you, they're gonna at least try. They don't know if you have cash or not. Plus, there is always your car they could take.

I'm just gonna pack pepper spray from here on out~
