A little advice from a former employee

I wont be on the boards for a bit as Im going to be heading back out on the road today or tomorrow. First off id like to say dont let me discourage you for making lifes choices but just read this and see if any of it fits you. If you have 20 or more years your better off staying put, however for the others remember as of december of this year WE HAVE TO BE 65 to retier! You can stay and keep sucking on the Kroger tity or move on to something else that isnt a dead end job and have to put up with the visits to your store from the good people of cincinnati who make 6 figures a year, come in with a smile and think life is good for everyone and in truth i know people that have alot of years there and are 1 pay check from being homless, you think they care, no , thier like "Warship before me" and give you a false sence of "maybe with hard work you'll get to were iam one day" (no you wont) you'll have a better chance at seeing a one legged man winning an ass kicking contest. Now mind you this may all sound negative , its not , its just the cold hard facts, and if I personally didnt give a rats ass I wouldnt be spending the time to type this post. For me this is what got me to change what I did for a living, not only a living but having my life back!                I had a vision when my 3 year old son gets older and is sitting in class and has to take his turn at telling the class "what does you parents do" (do to the change in times years ago it used to be what does you dad do) my son can say "my dad is a PROFESSIONAL TRUCK DRIVER"(his mother is an RN) and I thank god for it. He wont have to say "Well my dad is a lowly asskissing grocery clerk who is always having his head filled with false dreams of making it up the ladder in the company" <-----what sounds better to you, if you have kids I know you have had to had this same thought. Oh on a side note for those of you who will ask what is so professional about driving, well something that has 4 wheels and weights 2 thousand pounds is easy to drive AMEN DRIVA now work with me on this ok, try driving  with 18 wheels and typicaly weights 80 thousand pounds loaded! go and try to get a CDL and think its easy people flunk out all the time. At Kroger i was making 13.40 an hour after tax take home about 400 bucks, driving a truck depends how many miles i get and my checks after taxs have been no less the 800 bucks, i have had good weeks were i brought home more then 1k but i wanted to run that hard. Just to give you something to think about my brethren and good luck in what ever you do, and ill be back just not sure when. good day and thank you for reading on the Kroger forums.
