Mean girls update
Permalink

Well,  I was acting department head for 3 months.  During which, one of the mean girls were constantly threatening me over the fact that she wanted another mean girl to get the job.  (we have 4 in the deli)  She is a shop steward.    Said she would use the union to get me fired,  then management, then she would use Miles Bo**** who is one of her friends and is now the division HR coordinater.

I filed a harrassment claim, based on those threats.  James Jackson basically blew it off. Said I couldn't move departments except for cashier and then they can't guarantee any hours, or when I would work.  I can't move to another store because they won't transfer a problem from store to store.  If I didn't like the way that the 2 ladies were running things (btw I'm still the backup..  the other mean girls are cake decorater and deli manager) then I can just quit.

So I guess my time at kroger is coming to an end faster than I thought.  The shop steward pulls peoples times whenever she wants to get someone in trouble, or throw a spotlight on someone.  She constantly runs upstairs to create drama over an employee she doesn't like.

My sister works in produce and the cake decorater pulled her hours for the last 3 weeks and told the store manager that she wasn't working her full scheduled hours.  When she's done and there is nothing left to do.. she goes home at her dept heads request.  But my manager decided to point this out today during my meeting that he told me there was nothing he could do to help me.  So I'm guessing my sister is the next one to be weeded out.

Ehh life goes on I guess.  Just goes to show you that kroger cares nothing about their employees.  They just pander to the loudest.

I'm replying to the original post. It's to big to quote lol
You're seriously going to let them WIN and run you off? I guess I'm a super b@tch because when I was brand spanking new to Kroger (hired in as a bagger) that happened to me. A full time employee and a couple of the other chicks on the front end decided they didn't like me and complained to the manager that I wasn't doing my lot. That they had to do their lot AND mine. I just looked at the manager and asked them if they verified their claims. He said how would he do that. I looked at the monitors behind his head and told him that he had quite a few cameras to look up the last hour I did lot and see if I had done my job or not. His face turned bright red and he said there were no tapes in the recorders. I said, "Then I guess we're done. Have a great day. I'm going back to work." He just looked at me and said ok. lol

The point is, you have to stand up for yourself. No one else will.

You pull the district mgr in on this. Hell, pull the damn CEO in if you have to.

I like your spunk and style Oboro.  I definately agree that you should never back down but rather stand down your adversary.  Hell, bitches like this should not win over good hard working people.  fat boy - you tell me what store you work at & I personally assure you that I will make trouble for those who make trouble!  I now know that is it a cake decorator and a girl and a union steward.  this just makes me sick and pisses me off in more ways than one!

but if you do decide that it is time to leave good ol' kroger - i do hope that you go "out in a blaze of glory"

In my first confrontation with a co-manager i told them that she needed to take herself less seriously, to her surprise. Don't let people walk all over you. Stand up and make them listen. Believe your own words and trust in your own abilities. Always speak with confidence!

I agree with Obo here. If I had to pull in the CEO just to prove my point then i would do my damnedest to get that SOB right in there and listen to my story.

Fight the good fight there Fat Boy!

yea recently i got into a spat with a young co-manager over something relatively of moderate value in the grand sceme of things. she was being somewhat verbally irrate with her approach towards me. i was thinking to myself as she was barking her words that she does not do this to a select group of others but she would be more beligerant to another group. so in essence really she is somewhat immature in her interpersonal skills aproach.  now dont get me wrong -she is a truly fine capable young lady that i respect holding her position - but she still need some riping on the vine.  and so do i as a matter of fact.

well while she literally turned her back on me an walked away as if she can decide when the conversation is over, i called out to her and said 'hey, don't you trust me?'  she heard me and sort of knew where i was coming from.  she had a very valid point she was making to me and i get it. i actually appreciate her roundabout way of handling things to make me think about how kroger does things. wel she said back "trust you? how can i when i dont really know you."

so my point is - we all are pretty much good-hearted people just trying to do our jobs for a company called kroger.  we try to have trust in one another to be cooperative as we work w/in the bounderies set by kroger. when a select few try to 'rock the boat' shouldn't they be the ones who are adressed? shouldn't they be the ones who 'walk the plank'? i hear manager bashin all the time on here. a lot of them are actually pretty fair damn good people - am i right?  i also hear alot of employee bashing on here too. but most of us are good people just trying to survive another day at kroger. look i kinda like my job for all its worth. i even like hating my job at times. i also, as crazy as it sounds, like being yelled at by any one of my superiors!  why you might ask?  well....

i won't tell you right now.  you can tell me if you want why?

gotta run.. see ya all later

Basically I see it as the store manager not wanting to make waves and make everyone happy.  So he allows certain people to run the prison.  These people use threats and other tactics to make sure everyone runs their way.

The Union cake decorater used the union, then store manager etc.  From what I see and from what the store manager told me.  The district manager is saying it is my fault for standing up for myself.  Our store also has the lowest,  I mean lowest scores for the associate tracker.  They wonder why?  It's because the manager is allowing certain employees to run the store based on what "they" choose to be what the union contract and the kroger guidelines are.

I'm not going anywhere.  I'm going to keep raising my voice and wonder out loud why there are seperate guidelines for a select few.  I probably am the problem by pointing out what they want to keep hidden.  Simple things like not going by seniority, and trying to purposely get people fired.

Ok done rambling,  I'm actually just so damn tired of the drama.  But I refuse to give up until someone actually sees that this isn't MY problem,  but a problem that is affecting the entire store.

That is harassment. Plain and simple. Call HR and inform them of the problem and for how long this has been going on. Ask them for an investigation. If that doesnt work, you should at least call an attorney and give them the run down of the harassment and see if they can do anything for you. You're paying for a union that isn't helping or protecting you. There has to be something there.

I'm with Oboro on this one. Document EVERYTHING. Take it as high in the company as you need to. That failing, as she advised, YES, seek an attorney.

Every problem has a solution.
