You all know how back in our break rooms there is a bulletin board for the union right?  Usually it is cluttered with outdated stuff some of it offering various opportunities to attend union functions at a union hall over 100 miles away.  They have stuff like Euker, billiards & texas holdem tournaments; easter egg hunts to Santa Clause w/ your pet and kids photos; going to see the Reds, midget wrestling, WNBA or other sports; even going on cruises, Mayan or Moon excursions to trips @ a cost twice as much as if you would book it yourself!

So i was wonder if anyone here has gone to one of these things.  And if so what was it like? But most importantly - did they break out the union Hymnal and bagpipes while getting a huge bonfire going to sing songs like "WE ROLL THE UNION ON" and "EVERYBODY WORKIN' FOR THE MAN AGAIN"

althou i would go to midget wrestlingbiggrin

i was never into either store, or union events, just not my thing, and besides, i like to pick who i hang out with, and not end up on the same softball team, as the guy i hate from up front

You guys have it totally wrong.. We don't sacrifice chickens anymore.. god. what is this the 19th century?
And the songs are totally voluntary. Just like the walmart cheer.
Don't go on any cruises, because they do have you out in the middle of nowhere, with no land in sight.

just a thought.

when going on a cruise -out in the middle of nowhere, with no land in sight - be sure to carry a deflated beach ball in your back swimsuit pocket!  you never know when you might need it (if you get what i mean0

just got in the mail a small note from the UFCW Local 75 inviting me and my family to the first Annual health fair. Wed July 27 at friendship park on the Ohio River!

Sounds like a blast......   NOT

The only union event I've ever been to is the free trip to the zoo/zoombezi bay (in Ohio.) To be fair, I'm not sure if that's a union event or a Kroger event though.  The first year they had a picnic for us, then the following two years they pretty much checked us in and left us on our own.

No hymnal and bagpipes, sadly. D:
