My son decided it would be fun to break his leg a couple weeks back. Today in the mail I just received the first of many letters to come from Anthem. It didn't ask for payment or anything like that but did have on it some very large figures concerning his emergency room visit; surgery and hospital stay - well into the thousands.
So what is the deductable that I will be required to pay? Is it $500 as I thought or is it $1000 for a family member? And do i have to pay additional for his accident like 90% / 10% or ...
well i am just pretty much nieve on medical insurance costs hoping never to use it. But this could break the bank - and his allowance is due on friday so i need to know what to charge him LOL

LMAO! I also charged my daughter for playing (I'm almost to embarrassed to post this but she was ONLY 9 at the time) blind bike tag. Yes... she thought it would be super awesome to ride bikes blind folded. Not so much. She ran into a tree and knocked herself out and broke her designer glasses and just generally gave me a damn heart attack. The hospital visit (no brain damage or fractures thank God lol) and replacement of glasses wasn't bad at all. But my husbands insurance covered most of it. I don't know diddly about insurance either. He takes care of all of that. I will ask him though when he gets home.

I don't know if this helps, but there should be a hot line number and/or an employee web site (probably on the back of your insurance card, if you have one) you can reference for this....Check your premiums, if they're on the low end your deductible will be high, and vice-versa.
He can't remember either. It's been some time ago.
These days, I'm having trouble distinguishing my girl's country: Hong-Pines, Phili-kong,,,,what ever. Either way, we're talkin a twenty hour air flight from here to there!
yesterday afternoon, my brilliant son decides to hang out in the rain with sweat pants on over his cast that soon got completely soaked in water. when asked what the hell he was thinking he goes, "but.. but... i had sweat pants on over it so i figured it wuldn't get wet". well it did so off we go to the emergency room to get it taken off and replaced. i was so upset and just literally sat there next to him thinking how much of this weeks paycheck will go towards his bone-headed move. its still pouring down rain here and the car is in the garage so i got tha part covered. i might just drive the damn car into the school's lobby today....
