I worked at kroger from 10/2008 to 03/2011. I quit the company because I saw my situation at the store I just transfered to as no win. I was a top pay for part time.. Which is close to 10.00 per hour and I had benifits. In the month that I was gone...I applied several places and was lucky to get a job at a pizza joint making 7.25 per hour with no benifits. I am glad to be back, but I have a few questions. I can't find my union contract or I would look it up. I want to know if I will still have my seniority after being quit for 2 months. Secondly, Am I still elidegable for my insurance benifits that I was receiving or do I start everything back at day one and have to wait 6 months for coverage and 1 year for prexisting condtions?
Insurance varies depending on zone but as for seniority, you start back right at the bottom.
We just had a guy quit at our store who was kind of a "pet" that got a "better job" that was hired back after a couple of months off. Our concern was that he was going to be placed back with the same seniority. They did it one week but the recent schedule that came out had him at the bottom again. Of course, the guy has worked in so many different departments that they can stick him wherever and he gets 40 hours.
Trust me, if you got your seniority back, there would be a grievance filed. No offense, but it isn't fair to everybody else.

When I try to open the link to read topics, Some of the pages will not open. I posted this question, but I am unable to read it. It loads the topic at the top of the screen, but will not load the comment/questions or responses. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? Do I need to adjust my internet settings or turn on pop ups? Any advice would be great!
Thank you for your response, Drew. I am glad to hear that I am still elidgable for my insurance, because I have a pre existing condtion and I was worrying that I would not have insurance coverage until another year passed. As for seniority, you are right that it isn't fair to the employees who have worked consecutively to have me come back and have more seniority than they do. I am not so much concerned about senoirty than I am about my insurance. I am just glad to have my job back with the company. I didn't realize what I had with Kroger until I lost it. Loosing my seniority may make where I have to work later shifts, but I am willing to work any department and any shift needed so I can have my job back and have insurance. Before I quit, I always thought the grass was greener at another job, but during these past two months I learned that was not the case. In addition to my pizza joint experience I also got a job as a head chef at a local restaurant. While I was there, they broke many labor laws including - not paying me for training and paying me an hourly wage of $4.05/per hour, and working me 75 hrs per week with no overtime pay. I really missed Kroger in the mists of that and realized that even though my job at Kroger has difficulties, it is a great company to work for. They treat me right with pay, insurance, abiding by the law, and most of the upper management and cooperate employees, treat me with respect and act professionally. I am blessed to be back- I was not rehireable due to quitting without notice, but my new store manager was willing to consider hiring me back. He spoke with my former store managers and former disrict/area managers- and thankfully they gave me a good reference. I've learned from my mistakes. I'm gonna go in there and give em all I got and show him that he made the right decsion. Thank you, Drew P. Weiner
