Ok, ive worked at Kroger now for a month, and have YET to get my first paycheck... while 3 other employees that were hired in at the SAME time as me have now ALL gotten at least one check. Is this normal, or even LEGAL, for them to hold a check over a month?

I WOULD if they would have ever informed me who that was. When i got hired in, they didnt bother to have me even SIGN my application until i worked there almost 2 weeks, i didnt even fill out paperwork until into my first week of working. They NEVER discussed to this day how much money i'm making or anything. I just didnt know if my store was a$$ backwards, or if this happens frequently.

Sounds like my store. It happens a lot. You SHOULD have received a booklet when you were hired and they SHOULD have told you who your department manager is. If you know who your department manager is, ask them who your HR person is. If they don't know, there is a poster in your break room (well, there should be) and it lists your union stewards and union reps. Skip the stewards and go straight to your union rep and inform them of the problem.

The HR person may also be known as the Associate Manager in some stores.  Don't confuse that with Assistant Manager.  You are punching a time clock aren't you?  Because if they don't have any official records of your hours then you're screwed.  You need to find out why your not getting paid as soon as possible.

Wait!  Say what???

How the hell can a person not discuss their pay when being hired by a company. Then how the hell can they start to work w/o knowing how much they will get.  Then how can they work for more than a couple weeks w/o getting a paycheck.

Well, BASICALLy, i DID ask. And everytime i asked the reply i got was "oh i dont deal with that part, ask so and so". So then i go ask THAT person and they say "Oh No, that has nothing to do with me, go ask so and so". And Yeah, i was desperate for a job. So Whatever, i work and figure eventually i'll get paid. I asked a few other employees about the paycheck issue, and there were a few guys who didnt get their first paycheck for 6 weeks. It makes no sense to me. Yeah, i'm punching in on the timeclock. But i still just think its stupid that everyone who hired in at the same time as me has got a paycheck. The last girl had to have her DAD come in and complain to the manager and then they rushed around to make sure she got a check this week. I'm an adult, cant have my Dad come in and take care of business for me. But i really didnt think it was LEGAL to have an employee work that long without getting a check.

I missed my first two paychecks when I first started and our store manager was on vacation that week.  I went to him the following week when he came back and he immediately started working the phones and I received the checks on the truck the very next day.

It honestly depends on your store and your store manager at the moment. Some actually do try to be helpful and care about their employees. Some are just trying to make it another day without going postal.

I went through the same situation 11 yrs ago. After 5 weeks the store manager called payroll dept. and somehow my paperwork was "set aside or misplaced."What your store is obligated to do is to write you a Voucher based on the estimated hours that have been worked. Then when an actual paycheck comes in the voucher is paid back to the store.
