Crazy customer threatened me today because I didn't go get him an electric cart. He said he had power and I was going to lose my job tomorrow. I work at ucan so it is not my job to go get him an electric cart so walk your lazy ass over there and get it yourself. Does anyone know if anybody gets fired from a crazy customer complaint to corporate? This would be my first complaint and I have been working there for 3 years. Just wondering the repercussions from a nutjob.
What kind of power does he have? Cutting holes with his eyes; bending things with his hands; able to jump over building. Maybe he can make himself invisible or has telepathy & telekinisis. Can he freeze water vapors in the air and make shapes out of ice or teleport himself from one place to another? Or can he create energy and release it causing a powerful burst which can propel him foward making him invincible. Maybe he can pass though objects or change them into something else.
I woulda said "Happy Memorial Day!" and continue to do my job hoping he doesn't pick me up and throw me across the store into the wall real hard!

People are amazingly stupid and completely lazy. Also, you're in a union... not getting some lazy old man a fat-people-cart isn't going to get you fired. I'd have probably told him "they are right over there. Have at it, sir." then given a big ass grin.

Do you not have a hand held for your uscan? We are no longer forced to stand in front of a podium and a screen to work our uscans. I would have just walked down and got him one unless it was jam packed crazy with business. And if that was the case, I would have just paged a bagger or supervisor to grab one for him. Kill 'em with kindness :)

Quote from the Boss: I didn't say it was your fault. I said I was going to blame it on you.
At our store the supervisors get mad if we don't stand within the U-Scan area. They even had an "X" in marked the floor for us to stand on at one time. As long as you didn't say anything out of line to him, then I don't see any reason why the would do anything to you. People like that are all talk, anyway, and probably just want to blow off some steam.

I don't want you to worry yourself too much over this, but be prepared for some kind of attention from management...at which point you will find out just how much they do----or do NOT---- value your presence there. As for this guy's 'power', he has the same as anyone else; to pick up the phone and complain.
Be careful about saying things like 'that's not my job'---in the public service realm, management will claim EVERYTHING is our job.
Best of luck with this~

damn you sound like a real ****. just get the man a damn cart how hard is that you lazy piece of ****. Maybe he has assburgers or diabeetus or cancer how would you know ?
Thanks for all the replies guys. The store owner talked to me about it today and didn't believe the guy's story. I didn't state the entire story that this man was crazy. If the elderly need an electric cart i will call a courtesy clerk to get one, but before I could say anything he threatened to call corporate on me because there was none at ucan. There is never any electric carts at ucan because there is nowhere to plug them in. When you threatened to call corporate on me I will no longer be helpful to you. He also tore up his plus card and tried to forcefully give it me which I declined and ran away. He was a nut!!!!

Also this man was walking perfectly fine. I could see if he had a walker or one leg but that wasn't the case here. I cannot leave ucan for nothing because loss prevention is in the store watching me, and as soon as I leave someone steals something.I still cannot figure out what I did that was totally wrong. Because before I could suggest anything he threatened me.
Management probably verified this, too, by looking at the surveillance cameras. They are as much for our protection as it is for theirs, so next time a customer complains, keep this in mind. :) I am glad things turned out ok for you.
I've seen conference calls based around customer complaints. Invite so and so to a conference call, they think wow I'm really moving up. Turns out they were made a target for the entire division.
Look, I don't care where you work or what you think your job is- but you are there for your customers. If you don't help someone get a damn cart because someone might steal a can of green beans at least page someone else to do it. Is that hard?
We sorta have an unwritten rule at my store, never say "no" to the customer. Never say, "I don't know". Never ever say "That's not my job". Especially to a customer.

but what if you don't know? what if they are raping you? what if they want you, the shortest person in the store, to get something off the top shelf!?
The only thing that matters is how much you can suck up to corperate. The customer is just there to satisfy corperate's lust for more money.
Also theft puts people out of work.

You find someone who knows the answer. Raping by a customer- we would use common sense. You find someone to help get the item off the top shelf, maybe you go get a step stool. My favorite trick- I am a short person use a J Hook to grab the item.
