So, I'm curious to know if anyone from Indiana has any insite on the new Fort Wayne area union contract. Some how, the contract was ratified and today people recieved a wage increase (25 cents) or a check for 525 dollars (before taxes.) To recieve the check you had to be a "red-circled employee" which means you are full time and made more than 11.30 an hour at the time of ratification. (If you were part time and made more, you got a check for less.) Anyway, I have been with Kroger for almost 11 years, am full time and made 11.65. Of course, I was expecting a check. Instead, I recieved a 30 cent raise, which doesn't go along with anything I read about the new contract. If it makes a difference, I am also the assistant head cashier. I don't see where that would matter with the new contract, but who knows. I am completely confused. I just went to pick up my check around 6:30, so the union office was already closed and our hr person and management weren't in, then I ran across this site and figured I may as well see if any of you know anything about it. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
In the Houston area we were given checks if we met certain criteria. One was you had to be topped out in pay. You could always call your union rep and ask for verification.
Something similar happened to a woman I work with... Apparently she had been promoted to a higher position at the first of the year and it was on par with a manager pay scale or something so she missed out on a check and just got a raise. She is full time and definitely makes more than 11.30 so she was pretty upset... She was looking forward to the lump sum.
