After 25 years our deli will be under new management starting next week. No one is looking forward to it. The biggest concern is with the scheduling. People are wondering if they're going to be doing the same job the same way as they've always have.
Sometimes change can be good. The ebst way to transition with a new department head is to agree as a team to help the new DH out. Deli Department Head is a job that very few people want. So often you will see brand new hires with the position, or people who have only been working the job a short time.
If they need help and you offer it, then not only will it make their job easier, but it will make life easier on everyone int he department as well. You will be able to build a friendly relationship with the new department head, and as a team make sure your department has what it needs to run efficiently.
I see it done a lot, where a new manager comes in and for NO REASON the current employees just decide to hate them, and dig their heels in. It makes life hard for everyone, and often, the new manager has done nothing to deserve such hate.
Depends on how the new Dept head comes in, for the most part we dont worry about it too much, but then again our head clerks arent fixtures in the store, they change like the wind....
