i am an empolyee and recently got a "write-up" from my department manager and they proceeded to go online "facebook" and let other people know about it and everyone in the store is friends with everyone now everyone knows that i have a write up, i believe this is crossing the boundries of employer - employee confidentiality, what can i do about it, i am not complaining about the write up but i am more upset that now everyone knows about it. help please
Next hiring company to look at his Facebook(as is required for some jobs) isn't going to see this guy as a tentative hire. So either way, he'll be out of a job if it does happen.
So escalate this as far as it'll go. :D It's -his- job, not yours that's nads in the fire.
It's a free country. Too bad he is speaking the truth about you and you don't like it. The key is to speak to him like you would speak to the whole company at once.
ha I've done just the opposite. I made a private facebook group for all the members at our store. Gives us a good place to vent about customers. But there is drama sometimes too, but it is fun to read! :)
This is defimation of character. Print out screenshots of where it says that on facebook, make enough for you to have a backup copy. Make a copy for the store manager and the union steward. File a grievance and tell them that it is defamation of character, and if something isn't done you will take it to court.
You must not have Facebook then, or depending on your store.
I work at a smaller store and most of the people who work there are pretty tight-knit. There are people with 30-40 years seniority who have facebook, and I have them as friends. This includes two co-managers, one store manager, and a retired store manager.
The problem in this situation is a balance of work and life. If this manager is posting details of work related incidents and disciplinary action for people to see, then you need to collect screen captures and take it to a shop steward. My guess is whatever writeup you incurred will likely be pulled in order to keep you from taking it further.
On the flip side, I've seen instances where an employee has posted on Facebook calling the female department manager a "bitch" and is suspended indefinitely. The employee was reinstated and later transferred because you can't punish somebody for posting something on Facebook on their own time.

Not only is it defimation of character as previously posted but it is against Kroger policy to dicuss personal or confidentail information about the job or an associate. The new Harassment policy is very clear to include public forums such as facebook. You should bring this to managments attention however if you were able to print and copy the screen shots you have a much better shot and a very nice lawsuit against Kroger. Good luck
Oh hush. "Take it like a man" is a well known saying. As a woman, I am not in the least bit offended by the use of that saying. When you cant even tell if the OP is a man or a woman, why bother to alter the saying to use the correct gender?
