Mid South zone mangers and coordinators actually taking a load of dumpster garbage and seeing what was not marked down. Wow, how much longer does this company have?
Wow. I know the front end kids at night, instead of putting the out of place groceries away would just throw them in the dumpster. He told everyone that on his last day.
All I know is I would not in a million years go through our dumpster! I'd die from the smell. Just walking through the backroom is bad enough!
Wal-Mart is going through some similar issues right now. There is a HUGE emphasis on controlling shrinkage and, low-n-behold, a great deal of that IS going out in the dumpsters. My SM ran the numbers on just one month's loss from dairy alone: it was over $1,000. So, yea, we're all being held accountable on every level of this now, which sucks, because one of us always has to be paged now to review the trash, unlock the dumpster and have the employee check off on a clip board EVERYthing being pitched.
the real cause of it all, and what kroger will never address, s disgruntled employess.
pissed employess don,t care, at BEST, and will take the easiest route to work, including doing it wrong, to the worst type, who will do what they can to sabotage any way they canm. if that means making giant shrink, by throwing stuff in the dumpster, they will do it.
is it right, no. but with people so unhappy, its GOING to happen. hell, i know a guy who threw SPA guns in the dumpster, and those things cost thousands !
instead of wondering WHY employees would do such things, kroger will once again try th close the barn door after the horses have gotten out, and try to catch the trashing. how about making it where employees wouldn't WANT to hurt their store and company.
nope, then kroger would have to admit they are doing something wrong. never will happen.
look, bottom line, is happy workers do good, honest work. unhappy workers do piss poor work, or do wrong.
kroger needs to see the root of the problem,, not the flower of it
Barada, you can believe me when I say I agree with your points, and that I for one do my best to keep the people I work with happy. To the point that it sometimes gets me brow beat by my bosses.....and there is NO explaining to them that content employees=productive employees.
It's a curious program modern management is running: lead by fear and intimidation, rather than compassion and respect. Just yesterday I had our AP guy running wire for our DVR camera system-----cams that are positioned in ALL the back room areas to watch our workers, rather than on the sales floor to track the thieves. But that's what the higher-ups want.
