Just yesterday i was heading to receiving with a cartfull of trash. After chucking the bags into the dumpster, I closed the door.  it was then that our store's grocery manager yells beligerently" I wish people would close the f**kin' dumpster door all the way" followed by him doing a kung fu kick to the door raised a good 4 feet off the ground.  The door is buggered up around the bottom so it doesn't close fully.  Yet if you swing it moderately hard, it to be shut like i did.

i then turned back to him and said "are you referring to me?" to which he responded "your damn right i'm referring to you!"  i could not believe that I was being confronted over closing a dumpster door. i pretty much told him that maybe he needs to cool his jets over such minor things allowing me the benefit of quite possibly a nice polite instruction of what he perceives to be closed.  then maybe next time if i do not do it "correctly" in his eye THEN he might have grounds to bitch.

anyway, upon leaving receiving and getting ready to head back out to the sales floor, he sees my empty cart that i left in the back corridor and shoves it a good 20 feet down the walkway banging into the wall and coming to a sudden stop.  He keeps walking onto the sales floor and so I yell out "HEY" and he turns around and goes "WHAT?"  I think I said "what is wrong with you. that is my department's cart" and he utters "i thought you were heading that way" I said "no i am not and it doesn't matter which way I am heading. you have no right to slam a cart down the corridor like that."

well, i had another run of trash to make.  he was heading back onto the sales floor with a pallet of water. as i was heading back to my department, he turns around and says "any time you are ready - bring it on man!"

LMFAO!  Well I'm ready, And I'm going to bring it on.  in a form of a complaint.  He better come to me today and sincerely appologize. When he does, I will tell him that he gets one free pass and that was it.  Don't let it ever happen again.  And I will also tell him that he has a mental issue that should be evaluated.

Another episode of sheer crazyness that periodically drops into my life......  I have others I am aout ready to share.

That doesn't bode well at all. You've got a major punk-ass on your hands, and I agree with your approach: Nip THAT sht in the bud, too.

Wow...Simply Wow!!! I've always thought that some people at Kroger were living in an alternate universe...Well, this guy is just proving my theory!!! You gotta stop this stuff before it gets out of hand...Just a thought, but...Have you ever noticed that sometimes, your store is like a zoo....and you've got all these animals that haven't been fed...and they're all getting just a bit cranky...And you're spending your day just trying to figure out ways to tame the lions??? I know this feeling...Sad, yes...but it's true!!!

There are psycho punks in every walk of life, on every pay-scale. Of course it makes sense that they dominate the lower end of both. When confronted by a prison in mate mentality in the day time work place, MY advice---and, agreeably, it's just one guy talkin' here---is, if another confrontation happens without witnesses, jump RIGHT up into the guy's face. The trick here is speed. Gotta catch him by surprise, get his adrenals pumpin'. If you can fight even a little, and you're not too afraid of maybe getting scuffed up a bit, this is the way to go.

Hop up into his eyes, yours all crazy and your voice evil. You don't even have to lay a finger on him. Just call him out----"Motherfuker let's clock out and GO out"....99.9% says this guy is a U.S.D.A. inspected PUSSY.

But let's say you go ONLY your route; get management involved. Makes sense, you're management too, you're covering your job. Get ready for some pay-back. In which case, get some pepper spray and do a kung-fu side kick to his knee. Stomp his balls when he's down. Or any variation there-of. What ever; call the cops when you're clear, make sure the bad guy is arrested. It's only in the movies where some psycho monster keeps coming back to hurt people.

In both scenarios I described, you will win.

yea i'm still a little shocked and miffed by this experience.  yes kroger is definately like a zoo or the planet Zortron.

so yesterday i worked the morning shift.  the grocery manager worked pretty much coinciding time.  no approach from him to say "hey look i'm sorry".  so around 12;30 i grabbed a nathans hotdog and so did the store manager. he was unaware of this matter.  as i told him he had this big funny grin on his face.  i like this store manager.  i suppose that inside him he was laughing at the lunacy of the situation.  he gave his two cents worth abouth how we all need to communicate professionally and gave an example using me and him that just so happened several minutes earlier.  i told him that he is exactly right however his example dosnt justify the situation yesterday.  soon he goes - "i gotta go eat my hotdog"  LMFAO.

about an hour later in passing the store manager asked me what time i leave for the day.  who knows why he wanted to know b/c nothing came of it.

i dont know. i am off for the next few days.  don't know if i should let it lay or shake the tree. i have typed up a rough draft of the incident here on my home computer.  sorta am tempted to go into the store and hand it over to the manager. then on the other hand maybe its best to shut the hell up and just let it fizzle out....

any opinions?  later i will share with you all another crazy "kroger zoo" story.

AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER. THE END

In these situations I normally flip a coin.... not because of it's outcome but because while it's still in the air I realize what my heart truly wants.

Just wondering how this fool is a department manager. Well, I guess I know. We have a 20 year old dairy head who never finished high school...immature and a terrible department head. It's such a small department to manage. It's easy but there are 6 trucks a week including milk and regular truck. I think it's too much for him to handle.

madman - i think u are absolutely right about that.  people told me that alot of pressure was on him and others from upper management.  still that does not allow him to do what he did. and then he should have the balls to come over and say he is sorry w/in a reasonable timeframe (like 1/2 hour!)

anyway - i decided to at least type up a report of incident and have it put into my file.  who knows if and when he will be a jerk again
