Management lack of respect!

I wasn't feeling good last night or when I got up this morning so I went to the doctor.  While I was waiting to be seen I called work to let them know I wasn't going to be in.  This was 2+hours before my shift was scheduled.

When I spoke to the manager on duty she asked what was wrong, after I told her what was going on the bitch just hung up!!!!!!!  Shows what they think of us!  No hope you feel better soon, or anything, just hung the **** up!

once that happened to me. i called back and asked for the manager I was talking to and said "i think something happened to the line or you hung up on me". i pretty much told him right then and there how i do not appreciate his lack of empathy. the next day he appologized.

You called off the day before a holiday. They probably had a few more call off as well. That's what happened today at my store anyway. They wanted me to stay over to cover them. I looked at my manager and said "really? you schedule me 6 days a week without 40 hours, mind you, and YOU want ME to help you? hahaha, no thank you."

I'd assume their were a few other call offs, and they probaly assume I called off for the WVU/Marshall game, but they could have shown a little respect.  Oh well hell with them!

lol. I've been asking "who do you think is going to win?" they would answer then i would respond "I'm going for Kentucky. No matter who wins Kentucky will still kick their butt!"

I almost got my butt kicked quite a few times that day :D

You don't care for them and they don't care for you. This is how Kroger works. A divided family.

yep! Nip it in the bud....

go up to that particular manager the next time you work and just tell the a-hole that you were sick and that you deserve some respect. let them know that hanging up the phone in the middle of a conversation w/o saying "good bye" is inappropriate.

you know - its time to make a stance!

One time I called in sick and the manager said "whatever" and hung up on me. Really mature.

i called in twice in my 3yrs. one time it was july4th and the day before i got a 102 fever and went a night at the hospital. i was in no shape to work or be in public so i called them and they said they dont accept callins on a holiday, even on a holiday. i straight up told her my situation and she still said no when i didnt show up that day she got my message i retuned to work the next day nothing was said. the second time was a year later and i had a sinus infection, i could of probably went to work but i felt like total crap. so i callin 5 hours before my shift. i get run around between 3 managers for some reason then the last words the bitch says to me are OH Fine in a nasty tone then hangs up.

I called in at one store I worked at and missed nearly a week because of pnuemonia.  The day I came back the back-up dept. head didn't ask how I was, just bitched me out over work that I supposedly didn't do the last night I worked.  All this after a month before having a heart cath. done.  No damn respect at all at Kroger any more!

Nothing pisses me off more than being shorthanded. Thanks to people calling in all the time, this happens all the time at my store. So you shut up.

Too bad.  **** happens.  The world doesn't revolve around you and whether you like to be shorthanded or not.

One time I got strep throat and I got a doctors note and brought it in and supervisor couldnt say anything. Another time I was working overnite before taking my vacation and I was sick w/ pink eye and pnuemonia. I left early to go the the hospital because I couldnt breath. I came back in the following monday on my vacation with a doctors note stating I was sick during my shift.

Next time when I come in sick I'll be sure to cough and sneeze all over you.  At least you won't be shorthanded, right?  Just make sure you don't call off when you get sick unless you're on your deathbed!

I've never missed a day. It's pathetic that others do. And you should be able to come in sick without making others sick by simply washing your hands with hand sanitizer. Keep your distance from the customers. Maybe even convince them to let you do lot all day.

Ok Doctor Anonymous, how about this? I'm already running a fever, which means my immune system is compromised----let's say I'm not infecting any one, but maybe THEY are running some bugs and RE INFECTING ME. So now instead of maybe bronchitis which I could have knocked back with 2 days rest, I'm laid up with double pneumonia....

If it's that serious, than you can rest. 90% of call-ins are for something very weak though. It pisses me off to no end.
