I had a lady couple of days ago try to walk out with a plant.
She was done scanning her order except for the plant. I asked her if she would want me to scan it for her, and she said that she would pay for it at the customer service desk. I waited until she was almost out the door before I called the customer service desk to ask if she had paid for the plant. They said no. I informed them that she hadn't paid for it at U-Scan either. So they walked out and retrieved the plant.
And do you know what she told them when they went out there? Wait for it...

One man tried to walk out with a cart full of beer, and I caught him because the U-Scan always prompts for ID for items like that. I noticed that the U-Scan didn't flag me, so I waited until he got to the door, and then I asked, "Would you like me to scan that for you?"
"Oh... I'm not going out the door."
And he didn't... at least not with the cart full of beer. (It was found later somewhere in the back of the store.)
