Ok so I want to work at Kroger while keeping my day job at another supermarket retailer but have been told that you cannot work at a competitor company. How would that be enforced ? Once I am off the clock, what is it their business to dictate to me where I can work and where I cannot ?
I work at Target and Kroger at the same time, but I was told when I was going to get a job at another local grocery store that if I was hired elsewhere I would be terminated. Although, I guess if they don't know there is nothing they can do. Trying to keep that hidden seems difficult though.
Most employers would consider working for a competitor a conflict of interest. They might think you're trying to divulge "trade secrets" to the competition.

I'm on your side with this----it's so hard to get anything close to full time hours anywhere these days, and even if you do, the pay isn't really there. You should be able to do whatever you have to to get by, and I especially applaud people who try this route before seeking public aid.
Unfortuanately, it's probably just a matter of time before one employer or another discovers this, at which point, yes, you'll likely lose one----if not both---jobs.
Just keep it as low profile as you can. I wish you luck~

If you do, don't let either company know that you're working for the other. Just make sure your hours don't overlap
the sad thing is they probably would suspect us of trying to divulge trade secrets. its understandable if you hold a higher up position at kroger and you get another job at a competitor store but if you're a 3rd shift stocker why would you give enough sh*ts to tell secrets
It all depends on how valuable they think you are, on of our high value employees works for kroger and for thumb and management knows about it, and since we can't attract the really skilled and talented people because of our pay scale they let him get away with it.
competetive pricing is very highly guarded. i remember the days when people would go to the competetors and price all their stuff then come back and change prices to the same. so this is one main reason they do not allow it
