its KROGER. they will get by w/o us for a shift


 My relative had a hip replacement surgery.  I called in for the next days 6-2 so I could take care of them in case something happened.   Next day at 11am, relative stumbles and wouldve hurt themselves if I wasnt there.

You are in the wrong company. There is no policy except you work your scheduled shift or else. Naturally there is enough flexibility that there is no real policy. If your condition is so dire that you will die on the premises that would be hard to cover up. Otherwise get a real job. Please don't be spreading disease or hurting yourself. Get out of there. Bad company.
