I work in the deli bakery. We have just one oven in the bakery. The chef shop and deli share a small oven. In the four days before Thanksgiving we have to bake 3 to 5 times the amount of bread we normally do, bake around 120 cases of pumpkin and sweet potato pies, and bake 20+ cases of fruit pies. Normally that's not a problem because we have the oven going nearly 24 hours a day starting on Sunday. We have a rule: the oven is never empty. So you have to make sure that there is always something waiting to go in the oven. This year, however, one of the chefs informed me that they needed to bake over 20 turkeys and their small oven can only cook 4 at a time. So now we have to find time to squeeze that in too. I told her it would have to be very late in the afternoon or early evening. To top it all off, we have a new deli manager who has no idea how things work around here during the holidays. God help us.
Keep in mind your Dept head may be your supervisor, and they need to guide their workers, but with what you are describing is a totally different story. Go to store management, or division office.
Great! I spoke to the store manager about the dept head about her going off on me for something that was way off the wall she did apolgize soon after and he said I was just in the line of fire that morning.
I go to work to do my job and I do try my best daily and line of fire please a grown women should of learned by now to keep her mouth shut.Yes, holidays are flustrating but suck it up and just get the job done.
We all know we dont have the hrs,we have people who dont pull their weight and we all feel we are behind but the store would be in big trouble if we all said comments like her.
