Anyone deal with this?

Just curious, but have you ever worked at a store where it seems like one guy gets sick, another one breaks his back, another one ends up in the hospital for some problem, the guys supposed to replace them are not up to snuff, IF the guys who are out of commission are even replaced at all...and then you have other people who are fired or suspended for doing something stupid...which happens all the time at many other stores too, as I can attest to, and all of this happens during the holidays, which leaves a store short-staffed, and those left end up trying to pick up the pieces, and keep a department running...BARELY RUNNING...and then you get a no-call, no-show from someone...especially a someone you were depending upon...??? Or the guy is going to be really late? Do you ever have really stressful days when things like this happen (especially bad during the holidays), and then everyone is unprepared for these things, and it feels like a stack of dominoes falling quickly one by one? And everyone goes MAD!!! Maybe it's me, but when these things happen (seems to happen all at the same time, too), I start wondering if it's just coincidence, or dare I say it, there is maybe a purposeful reason why this is all happening at once? Believe me, I understand sickness...I've had more than my share of times in the hospital, but I get to wonder when a lot of employees at once are having some trouble or another, and everyone else has to do twice or three times the work to make up for it...I'm curious if any of you have had similar problems. I don't want to say that these things are happening on purpose, because s**t happens, but still...something's fishy, and it ain't right! Especially during the busy holiday season...I keep telling one of my co-workers...if things keep happening, there'll be no one left...what then? It seems like one thing after another!!!

people hate work. people especially hate hard work. people don't work to work they work to draw a paycheck and hard work just isn't worth the pay.

One of the replies mentioned "candyasses". And that's pretty much what applies here. For all newbies to this site and working for this company, Kroger is def not the workplace it use to be. It will never be! Unless someone in management (with huge ballz) steps up to the plate, and is genuinely concerned about the company instead of their billfold. This is the only company I know of that so many get away with coming in 30 minutes late, standing around talking for an hour and a half, texting on their phones, etc. AND GET AWAY WITH IT!

I guess you missed the class on using periods and run-on sentences huh but u should periodically put a period in to help break up your sentence and train of thought so whoever reads what you are writing can make better sense of what you are trying to say because peoples brains need and see the period as a place to take a break and regroup for a milisecond and digest what was just said then move on to the next set of words and yea this stuff usually is taught to kids around 2nd or 3rd grade but sure i think we all have experienced what you are talking about where people get suspended or sick or on vacation wait what were you trying to say oh yea i now remember yea maybe something is fishy during holidays and its all a big conspiracy and the man cracks the whip on those who do show up and oh wait let me put in a period.

Sorry you have some discourteous offensively blunt kroger labor cut your post down on your "run in sentence".
It is intelligible your post, I understood your typing.

Back to your post, for me to explain WHY we have labor and very high amounts of call ins and labor on vacations during holidays etc...., I would need the space the size of kroger produce truck it would fill up.
I will however say this, the reason UNION.
