Why is it the old, fat, and female clerks are never called for carts? The majority of clerks are just that and the few other younger males do all the crap work. They have the same job title and pay scale as me. I mean I'm not heartless but if the situation was flip flopped the females and old would be sueing if they werent treated "equally."

Ok got that rant out, now back to machineless pushing and watching the plastic sacks getting thinner and thinner.

This trend goes on every where in all labor-based businesses. And no, it doesn't seem right, but it is practical.

at my store a 50ish yr old man pushes carts from 7-3:30 every day but sayurday and sunday. He never bags a thing.

It's just the older you get the lazier you get and girls.... well kroger has always been sexist when it comes to the pushing of carts.

It's the wonderfull double standard in the workplace today.

equal pay, for equal work

unless, it's too hard of work, then it's back to the old,  young men doing the grunt work, gals and the old or out of shape, get a pass

but still the same pay

It's everywhere, thou, not just kroger. every job i ever had, i ben a pack mule, because i'm big and strong.

never mind i got metal holding my back together, and i'm older then some of these kids parents

but personally i don't mind having to it myself too much, i figure its what god gave me big muscles for

but the double standard still ticks me off

At my store, all the courtesy clerks do carts.

Of course, they are all high school kids except for two.

It is kind of funny to see the 80 pound girls wrestle carts, though.

as a strong american male, you are still carrying the weak, old, lazy and infirm on your back, but hey - at least these people are employed and not collecting welfare. this is the way of the world

I get a kick out of how many new emloyees with hardly any time in like less than a year who feel they are above bagging and doing cart. Most are youger end of high school or in college. I see this new sense of entitlement worse than ever. these folks all want check and thanks to the 1 plus one program they dont seem to think they have to pay their dues. Some of us older not size 0 but with big muscles are even female have paid their dues over and over and who still pay their on their weekly schedule whatever hours they have leftover even with 25 years . What I see is a big diffence in tier treatment. I have worked more thanmy share in various heavy lifting departments and nigts/weekends. No going home every holiday and having tohavemycell phone glued to my hand. Sure there are always a few premadonnas out there and some are evenmuch younger or my age. Once the company started cutting my hours in other depts and yet still gave you same work load and more and seeing others in your department extra help then their isnt much choice but to take care of your self and your back. Checking isnt much easier with hardly any box help that wants to be bagging. I find a few or more who also think thtell you how to do your job and try to boss you. Like there arent enough managers over you . Think about where these other older blahblah workers havebeen beforeyour judgement.

Prima Donna or premadonna , what it means is someone, usually a girly or gal that gets the schedule they want and days off they want with lots of weekends off and hardly any nights and usually dont really have to be working and mainly working for their insurance. They usually have no stocking or have to work their hours elsewhere to get their hours.

 this is true

every once in a while, i actually enjoyed getting out of the kitchen area for a bit, by bagging up groceries, or pushing some buggies.

long as they understood, my work came first, because my boss wouldn't trake ' i was helping out up front' as a excuse to not get everything done.
