How do you think I feel when someone who isn't working is eating better food than me?

Why is it acceptable for Krogrr--a corporation making billions in profit each year--to pay you and other hardworking folk welfare wages?

I'm a cashier and last night these hood rats bought $200 of junk with EBT. I was pissed despite not usually caring much about a constant problem like EBT insanity because $200 is like 2/3 of my check that I earn for ACTUALLY WORKING. I couldn't even spend $200 on food in one trip because I'd have nothing left! I understand someone being disabled, but unless they are mentally screwed, they should be unqualified for EBT and get a job!

They spend it all in a few days then go to the food bank and play the "I'm a poor starving soul" game.

How do you know those folks don't work? 

Due to $100-billion-a-year Krogrr's stingy welfare wages, you may well qualify for food assistance; I do, even working 40+ hours a week for our fine, generous, upstanding employer.

My department head has a food-assistance card!

Taxpayers are, in effect, subsidizing Krogrr by helping its impoverished employees eat.  How is it fair for a multi-billion dollar corporation to be allowed to be so irresponsible in getting away with paying literal welfare wages to so many of its workers?

The next person waitin' in your welfare line may well be a fellow Krogrr employee.

Well that person will have to wait behind the employees from Walmart and McD's.

 

No, really. They've both been caught encouraging their employees to apply for government benefits AND cut back on their personal spending (if there's any left for the employee).

I've seen customers get cash back on their EBT card, they got the cheapest candy bar there, got $20.00 cash back, bought their beer/liquor, returned the candy for a refund and left. I was like....WTF?! ...unfortunately there is a whole lot of not a damn thing you can do.

Friend , your in high cotton, Im so sick of peanut butter, hamburger helper, and beans and corn bread I could puke.....Its that big paycheck that dictates our purchases....lol.

Just so we are clear in order to have food stamps you have to have a job so just because we are on food stamps doesn't mean we're not working and we don't deserve the food

 True. Why should my taxes pay for fillet mignon when I cant even afford to get that on a regular basis? It's not right, but it is what it is...

 

Also, how the hell can they afford a nice 2021 or 2022 year car? I actually saw that the other day. An EBT customer said to her friend on the phone, she just recently got it. 

 

Finally, drug addicts should NOT get EBT. I'm not sorry, but if you can afford to buy drugs, you can afford to buy food. Just get off the drugs, get into rehab, and get a damn job. 

 

This messes it up for people who actually NEED EBT. But if the actual people who need it raise concerns, the abusers throw a fit.

The sad part is this is true. I know someone replied to an old comment to but it up but I had a black guy come in last month buying $50 lobster tails and fancy steak fiddles off his ebt card then bitched about how he'd rather live on ebt than work.
