I can see many Kroger employees canceling their membership with UFCW 700.

I would still proudly pay for my union.

I don't plan on it either.  The bad thing about Right to Work is that even employees who cancel their membership to the UFCW or their labor union, they still receive all the benefits as a paying member would be.  I check into it and there were court cases where this is true due to those employees (opt out of union) are still apart of the bargaining unit.  Sounds wrong but

I rarely get into issues involving unions, but this above post struck a nerve. I say if any one is a union member, they should pay full share for full benefits like everyone else.....Other wise, it's not a union, it is an insult, and another form of WELFARE~

The problem I have with it is this:

Let's say you are a union rep.  You have two members who have grievances.  One member is in the union, the other one isn't.  As a union rep, you know the one member is already paying union dues, so are you going to be more inclined to fight hard for them, or are you going to fight hard for the person who isn't a union member so they will sign up?

I wonder if it's worth it.  Generally speaking, around here it works out to 5-10% of each paycheck.
