I recently noticed my pay has jumped a dollar and i am now getting a $1 premium on sunday..i have worked alot of hours in the last 12 weeks and my department manager says i am on the verge of full time. I have called my union rep and waiting to hear back. But why am i still be scheduled 28 and 32 hours. i dont understand. My department manager said they are trying to not give it to me. any answers?
yeah, thats exactly right. you have to work 36 or 40 hours or something for X number of consecutive weeks to make full time status. so they are probably cutting you on week X minus 1 so that you don't make it. sucks but it's pretty standard procedure here
i would recommend going to store manager if you can to talk about it asap. it's more of the extended health benefits that they are worried about, than this raise
health coverage is a big cost to kroger and this is the primary reason they don't want to give out full time status. default instructions to management from corporate are "don't let anyone full time". i have been told that in order to be promoted to full time status, it takes approval from above store manager level (ie. the district, zone, whatever guys)
you need to go to the store manager or HR rep, whoever you are most comfortable talking to, about what exactly is happening with you. there have been exceptions made to the "no full time" policy
i don't know if the union rep has anything to do with this but it's maybe a good place to ask first what is up. my intution tells me that they can't take away a raise once it's been given out but it may be dependent on full time status - in which case i don't know
Another weird example of Kroger screwing around with people that doesnt seem to happen at Fred Meyer. Jobs are either FT or PT. If a job is listed as full time, you might get hired on to fill it. You pass the probation period of 60 days and then you're a full timer, guaranteed 40 hours and then get health insurance after 6 months, a bit better insurance after a year, and then dental and then vision after that. Even part timers get insurance too, as long as you work 80 hours a month. Nobody is told to schedule people 79 hours so they dont qualify.
If a full-time job became available due to promotion, transfer, firing, etc. then whoever is interested applies for it, and someone is picked. The rest of Kroger seem to operate in some weird punitive environment
