All depends on ones contract . check your local union or contract to check on your contributions and time you have in. Can tell you that mine (local 540 out of dallas) Had changed due to the last contract . It dropped down to where I would see about  $56 per month for each year I work. Has up to $89 per month per year. I will have 23 years in in june of this year. That is 22 years paid into the pention.  My unverified amout is about $1850 Should have about 2500 a month when I retire. best think is to get everything verified once contributions begin. will take five years to be vested into it.

They need to finally give us a raise, but this "wage freeze" bull**** is holding everyone back.

I still have yet to see the new contract. I've found a new "loop hole" they're exploiting in the contract. It states now under "Relief Pay". In the old contract it was "if you work 3 days" you would get relief pay. Now its "MORE than 3 days". Meaning you would have to work 4 days just to be able to claim relief pay and basically get a manager for free and paid less if they run the department for 3 days. I haven't seen the actual contract, but when I do i'll read through it and see if I can find some loopholes since they wish to exploit wording in the contract.

Could not tell you when you will see your new contract. But here is one thing to think about. Once it is signed and ratified, I have found it to take another several months until you see it. Even thou it has been agreed on. the new language needs to be written into the entire contract. This will take the company and specific union leaders to read everything and make sure that it is right and that there is no slip ups or changes placed into it without the other side realizing it. Generally the company will put it together and give it to the union. If there is no proof reading then language can change for the companies best interest rather intentional or unintentional. The union has to make sure this does not happen. Remember that it is a ratified contract that everyone agreed on, but not finalized until the whole package is put together, re-written , proof red and then signed off by both sides. That can take several months.

Our contract has always stated relief pay for more than 3 days in a week. Basically if the department head works more that one day , that week, then there is no relief pay. WE has in our contract for a long time, language that was used to get relief pay for anyone that performed the work of a hire classification. That was one of those things missed in proof reading the contract. It took Kroger two contracts and an aggressive union rep to push it, before they came after us in the last contract. What that left happen was a clerk get the pay of a journeyman cutter if they was filling in for them during a week.

IF you find any loop holes then great but it does not always come in the contract as there are a lot proof reading sessions going on to check for that. Here is where you want to look for loop holes. many years ago when key retailing began. It stated that the schedule had to state the department head and assistant and that they had to work one late shift each week. There was several stores that had only one market manager and only clerks with no assistants. I got with the union rep and used that to help get my one clerk made an assistant. The REP did that and used that loop hole to get 12 more promotions to clerks that should have always been at those positions. So what you want to do is know your contract and look for things that Kroger tries to change and promote thru various other meens suck as key retailing and other policies.

I'm guilty on that part. We have a red circle injured for 4 'months and I claimed on it. They fought and I won.
