Looking For New Department!

Okay, well i am a bagger/cashier on the front end. I cannot stand it. It is hectic, we are always understaffed because of that freaking quevision. So that makes things more stressful. My front end manager has been with Kroger for 30 years and she still doesn't know how to do her job. She schedules the front end people outside of their availability and constantly messes everything up. Plus, everyone, including customers, are complaining about her bad attitude and all around apathy. So, i am looking to switch departments. I need to get off the front end. I am really thinking about stocking. Which department would you guys reccommend? I was thinking Dairy. If so, what would my job consist of in the dairy department? I was also thinking about Frozen Foods. Again, what all would my job consist of? Who makes the schedules for those departments? Is the schedule leniant because i am still in high school and would have to work around my schedule. Thanks for your input.

dairy and frozen both fall under the grocery department and are headed by the grocery manager. both of these jobs mainly consist of putting dairy items and frozen items, respectively, on the shelf.

at my store there have been many baggers who have gone over to back-end departments, and most of the time these people don't work out because they are not used to the work load. no offense to you but the majority of baggers at my store are jerkoffs and don't move fast enough to keep up with the job duties in these other departments.

You should get used to being on the front end.

Most departments require that you be over 18 due to the fact that you may have to operate some type of machinery.  This include things like power jacks and slicers.  That being said, I would definitely try to get off the front end.

I still have time to go to community college and what not so its not all that bad imo.

Really, you should get used to being on the front end.  If you wouldn't mind working thirds, you could probably get on the night stock crew.  Chances are you really don't want to work thirds, so you shoud get used to the front end =)

It's not like getting into another department is that hard. Even getting into a first or second shift position isn't impossible if you know the right people. The only issue is that he wants to go into dairy or frozen foods, which is usually what you have someone with more experience do considering there's usually only one person working that department at any given time.
