I went back to work Tuesday after my vacation. Tuesday is senior discount day. During my time off nothing changed. As busy as we were, there were only 6 cashiers on the schedule all day.
And they wonder why we don't get anything done in our departments. We have over 100 employees and the hours our spread so thin we can't get a ****ing thing done. With this many employees you think we would have more people scheduled on the busiest day of the week.
So is anyone else having similar problems with a high employee count but no hours going out?
brothda i feel da pain! when i go 2 werk at krogars now i do as litta as possabel! why not bro - every body slackz so i gonna keep up with my fella employez and slack as much as they do!
i now make sure i go poop 4 times a day along wid my other 2 breaks. when customer got deli orders to make. i go nice n' slow just like my sista's next 2 me. i dont clean up nobodys messes no more. i put only my stuff away and leave there crap out on the counter. if itz in my way i toss it over to there work area.
If i would have told them that they would have probably laughed in my face and tried to explain why NOBODY deserves overtime, except our grocery manager of course who is allowed to get almost 50 hours a week.
It's the same in all retail any more. I'm given more and more employees---yet fewer and fewer hours to schedule. And the employees themselves, faced with this, have less and less work ethic. You can only lead with fear and intimidation so much, especially with all the kids, 'cause what can you really threaten them with? Most of em don't wanna be there any way. The older folks are gradually leaving or getting fired too....all this just perpetuates the problem. It's a vicious cycle~
You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. This proves true in retail. If management would treat their employees with the same respect that they expect us to give them then things would function alot more smoothly in the work place. If i am getting **** on at work everyday by management why would i want to work hard for them? I do what i can do and go home.
I agree 100%!! What I said about fear and intimidation: that's not my style, but it's what is pushed upon us from the higher-ups. Not saying it excuses it, but sht does roll down hill.

Flawed logic. The corner stone of which Kroger is built.

Reading all these posts makes me feel blessed with my store. Even though they slack on a lot of things, hours are something amazing. When I bagged I ALWAYS got more than 20 hours. 20-26 is my regular range Last week I pulled 30 hours just bagging because of spring break. Idk what they'll start giving me now that I graduate in 25 days.
I'm lucky. Cashiers have been quitting (but also courtest clerks), so I get tons of hours until they hire more. We're hilariously understaffed, but it looks nice on my paycheck.
Senior discount day is almost always handled poorly at my store.
Up until last month, there's only been one sign up card stapled to an instant discount card for the entire front end. Hilarious.
