IN a letter I saw @ work today, It stated that Kroger and UFCW came to the following agreement. Employees hired 1/1/2003 or before (I believe it 1/1/, but I am sure its 2003) will be entitled to day to day bumping of schedule as opposed to week only. This new rule takes place on 6/1/12. I suppose this means employees are now grandfathered?
just some more mind games as they head toward only 30% full-time employees. they are hoping to wear down the old timers by making them battle for enuf hrs. to survive and have full time benefits. the current store mgmt and dept heads will be less than cordial if you keep bumping their general office driven scheduling- in fact they will be admonished by their bosses for not meeting the 30% goal and as we all know in the almighty Krogerland ----**** runs downhill and the union is out of toilet paper!
That would be new for us if it was in our contract but would also cause a nightmare for schedualing.
The way it is now ( in Dalla arewa) if you want to bump someones1s day you have to bump and exchange the entire week or schedual they have. What yu seem to be saying is that the older ones can now bump and exchange individual days from another , if that is what I amhearing from you.
Yes Grumpy, Employees hired 2003 and before are now entitled to day bumping. Just like the old timers are able to. It will probably create some schedule issues but it helps those get more hours they are entitled to. I like having this option, but I wonder what we will have to give up in return.
