So im pretty much done with Kroger for good now.

I worked my ass off for almost 4 years and today managment decides to get on me for not going up front to run a register when my milk and eggs were near empy.

They could of called up another guy in grocery or produce but they wouldnt, anyway the manager got on my **** about thanks to the dumb bitch floor supervisor.

Anyway, once i get hired at a new job should i give these *******s the respect of a 2 week notice, or say **** it, kroger was just a big waste of my time.

When I was in dairy, they used to call my help up front to a register so much, once on his 6 hour shift he was probably back in dairy for a total of 1.5 hours. Asked store manager if he was going to be allowed to work in dairy today. She says something bitchy back to me. He told me they would do the same thing, calling him up front all day, when he was by himself and I told him not to go if he was by himself. Kroger is ****ing retarded, and I'm glad to have gotten out.

I know I keep saying this, but it really is all retail: Not do more with less, do everything with NOTHING. Since numbers don't lie, I can't see this trend continuing beyond the bubble-burst which is bound to happen.....But in the mean time it sure sucks~

@ O.P.: I don't know if you're in the union there or not, or what avenues may/may not be available to you.

But I do feel for ya. And I know you know this already, but DEFinitely make sure you have something else lined up before you leave. Once that happens, well...The ethic used to be to give a two week's notice (and properly should still be, just so as not to screw your co workers).....But any more, the way I see it? If they were gonna fire you, THEY sure wouldn't give you a two week notice. Not advising anything; just my six pence.

Best of luck in what ever happens.

one thing to think about here is the ime you have in, 4 years, If best you need to hold out for that 5th year. Reasoning why is the pension fund. If you leave before the 5 year mark then you lost it. If you make it to the 5 year mark then you are vested and locked in. So rather you like the job or not, you are throwing away money that you earned  if you do not hold out to that 5 yearmark before quitting.

i will give a 2 week notice if i am leaving on good terms. If it is on bad terms i just quit. How i see it, people usually give a two week notice so if they need a reference they won't be spoken bad about by management but chances are if it's on bad terms they wont give you a good reference anyways.....leave em high and dry.

sometimes when you give a 2 weeks notice, the employer says never mind and writes you off the schedule immediately

Good for u! Heck no don't give em 2 weeks notice! Do u think they would give u any notice if they were going to fire u?

Get outtathere and take some Miralax to clear ur body of all that Kroger crap they been forcing on u. Let me guess they call u or produce clerk up to run register while 2-3 office girls stand around and watch or ur f.e.s. and another checker pretend to be busy on some bs so they take advantage of u or another clerk. What makes this worse is that when they are slow they never send a cashier to help out and get u caught back up- that would be totally unacceptable. ur problem is u have pride in ur work and dept and hate to see it rundown- nowadays it's ones like u that care that are gettin fed up and leaving. The slackers are becoming the majority quickly!

5 years of union pension vested will not even buy u a gal of gas by the time u retire- should not even be a factor in ur decision. The sooner u leave the sooner u find a job where common sense is common and poor operation of another dept doesn't affect ur performance and frustrate u so much.

OP here, i have decided to stay but im not going to bust my ass to get things done before my times up.

I decided that I will give it my best but if I am up front and cant finish everything I will just leave it if I cant get it finished before my 8hrs are up. I was going at a balls out pace but i think i am going to cut it back to a aboce average pace and not kill myself for a company that really doesnt care about anything other than making sure that if the screen says 8 registers than you have to have 8 registers reglardless the fact that only 4 customers are checking out.

But oh well, i plan on getting my CDL when I turn 21 anyway, I guess I can handle one more year here.

You dont have to give two weeks, yet i would be SURE you have the job before you make your move. When i found a new job and it was verified i had it (had a starting date) that day i worked my shift and the next morning called and told them i was resigning. As someone else said to me on this forum "your just a head count" to them.
